The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 5.30

प्रतिसंहर तात बुद्धिमेतां न हि कालस्तव धर्मसंश्रयस्य ।
वयसि प्रथमे मतौ चलायां बहुदोषां हि वदन्ति धर्मचर्याम् ॥ ३० ॥

pratisaṃhara tāta buddhimetāṃ na hi kālastava dharmasaṃśrayasya |
vayasi prathame matau calāyāṃ bahudoṣāṃ hi vadanti dharmacaryām || 30 ||

'O my son, keep back this thought, it is not the time for thee to betake thyself to dharma; they say that the practice of religion is full of evils in the first period of life when the mind is still fickle.
