The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 5.1

स तथा विषयैर्विलोभ्यमानः परमोहैरपि शाक्यराजसूनुः ।
न जगाम रतिं न शर्म लेभे हृदये सिंह इवातिदिग्धविद्धः ॥ १ ॥

sa tathā viṣayairvilobhyamānaḥ paramohairapi śākyarājasūnuḥ |
na jagāma ratiṃ na śarma lebhe hṛdaye siṃha ivātidigdhaviddhaḥ || 1 ||

He, the son of the Shakya king, even though thus tempted by the objects of sense which infatuate others, yielded not to pleasure and felt not delight, like a lion deeply pierced in his heart by a poisoned arrow.
