The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 2.6

मध्यस्थतां तस्य रिपुर्जगाम मध्यस्वभावः प्रययौ सुहृत्त्वम् ।
विशेषतो दार्ढ्यमियाय मित्रं द्वावस्य पक्षावपरस्तु नाशम् ॥ ६ ॥

madhyasthatāṃ tasya ripurjagāma madhyasvabhāvaḥ prayayau suhṛttvam |
viśeṣato dārḍhyamiyāya mitraṃ dvāvasya pakṣāvaparastu nāśam || 6 ||

His enemies became indifferent; indifference grew into friendship; his friends became specially united; were there two sides,—one passed into oblivion.
