The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 1.82

भ्रष्टस्य तस्माच्च गुणादतो मे ध्यानानि लब्ध्वाप्यकृतार्थतैव ।
धर्मस्य तस्याश्रवणादहं हि मन्ये विपत्तिं त्रिदिवे ऽपि वासम् ॥ ८२ ॥

bhraṣṭasya tasmācca guṇādato me dhyānāni labdhvāpyakṛtārthataiva |
dharmasya tasyāśravaṇādahaṃ hi manye vipattiṃ tridive 'pi vāsam || 82 ||

'Therefore since I have fallen short of that excellence, though I have accomplished all the stages of contemplation, my life is only a failure; since I have not heard his Law, I count even dwelling in the highest heaven a misfortune.'
