The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 1.12

अतिप्रतापादवधूय शत्रून्महोपरागानिव तिग्मभानुः ।
उद्योतयामास जनं समन्तात्प्रदर्शयन्नाश्रयणीयमार्गान् ॥ १२ ॥

atipratāpādavadhūya śatrūnmahoparāgāniva tigmabhānuḥ |
udyotayāmāsa janaṃ samantātpradarśayannāśrayaṇīyamārgān || 12 ||

Having dispersed his enemies by his preeminent majesty as the sun disperses the gloom of an eclipse, he illuminated his people on every side, showing them the paths which they were to follow.
