The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

कृत्वापि रात्रौ कुमुदप्रहासमिन्दोः करैर्यद्रजतालयस्थैः ।
सौवर्णहर्म्येषु गतार्कपादैर्दिवा सरोजद्युतिमाललम्बे ॥ ८ ॥

kṛtvāpi rātrau kumudaprahāsamindoḥ karairyadrajatālayasthaiḥ |
sauvarṇaharmyeṣu gatārkapādairdivā sarojadyutimālalambe || 8 ||

After mocking the water-lilies even at night by the moonbeams which rest on its silver pavilions,—by day it assumed the brightness of the lotuses through the sunbeams falling on its golden palaces.
