Verse 3055-3056

प्रामाण्ये परतःप्राप्ता प्रस्तुतस्य प्रमाणता ।
यथार्थज्ञानहेतुत्वमप्रमाणस्य वा कुतः ॥ ३०५५ ॥
अस्यापि गम्यते केन प्रामाण्यमिति चिन्त्यते ।
बाधकप्रत्ययासत्त्वादित्यनिष्टा प्रसज्यते ॥ ३०५६ ॥

prāmāṇye parataḥprāptā prastutasya pramāṇatā |
yathārthajñānahetutvamapramāṇasya vā kutaḥ || 3055 ||
asyāpi gamyate kena prāmāṇyamiti cintyate |
bādhakapratyayāsattvādityaniṣṭā prasajyate || 3056 ||

The validity of the cognition in question could be possible only if validity were extraneous;—how too can the invalid cognition bring about a right cognition in keeping with the reality of things? It is to be considered how the validity of this also becomes apprehended;—it may be deduced from the absence of cognitions to the contrary and so forth;—all this comes about which cannot be desirable (for the other party).—(3055-3056)

 

Kamalaśīla’s commentary (tattvasaṃgrahapañjikā):

This is easily comprehensible.

‘How the validity of this, etc. etc.’—i.e. of the absence of the Cognition to the contrary.—(3055-3056)
