Verse 2771

ननु बाह्यो न तत्रास्ति व्यक्तिः क्वार्थे प्रकल्प्यते ।
विकल्पप्रतिबिम्बे चेत्तद्वद्वेदेऽपि शङ्क्यते ॥ २७७१ ॥

nanu bāhyo na tatrāsti vyaktiḥ kvārthe prakalpyate |
vikalpapratibimbe cettadvadvede'pi śaṅkyate || 2771 ||

In reality, the thing spoken of in these works has no real existence outside; wherein then could the meaning be attributed?—If it be said that—“the meaning is attributed to the reflected conceptual content”,—then, the same may be said regarding the Veda also.—(2771)

Kamalaśīla’s commentary (tattvasaṃgrahapañjikā):

‘Existence outside’—Things like Mahāśvetā have had no real existence in the external world.—(2771)
