[0871c16] "At that time, the daughter of the wealthy householder replied to her: 'Excellent, sister! Just greet the Buddha, and the Tathāgata (如來 [ru lai]) will surely enter.' At that time, that great Brahmin daughter (大婆羅門女 [da po luo men nu]) made a parasol (蓋 [gai]), adorned with various gems, covered it with a fine cloth (細 [xi][疊 [die]*毛 [mao]]衣 [yi]), and attached various flower garlands (花鬘 [hua man]) to hang down from it.

[0871c16] “ěr shí, dà fù zhǎng zhě zhī nǚ bào bǐ nǚ yán: ‘shàn zāi zǐ mèi! rǔ dàn yíng fú, rú lái bì rù.’ ěr shí bǐ dà pó luó mén nǚ suì zào yī gài, zhòng bǎo zhuāng yán, yǐ xì [dié*máo] yī, mí fù qí shàng, fù yǐ zhǒng zhǒng zhū huā mán děng, sì sàn chuí xià.

[0871c20] "At that time, Kāśyapa the Tathāgata (迦葉如來 [jia ye ru lai]), Arhat (阿羅訶 [a luo he]), and Samyaksaṃbuddha (三藐三佛陀 [san miao san fu tuo]), in the morning when the sun was in the east, out of compassion for that woman, put on his robes, took his alms-bowl (持鉢 [chi bo]), and went to the house of the wealthy householder (大富長者女 [da fu zhang zhe nu]).

[0871c20] “爾時,迦葉如來,, 阿羅訶,, 三藐三佛陀,於晨朝時,日在東方,愍彼女故,著衣持鉢,詣彼大富長者女家.

[0871c20] “ěr shí, jiā yè rú lái,, ā luó hē,, sān miǎo sān fú tuó, yú chén cháo shí, rì zài dōng fāng, mǐn bǐ nǚ gù, zhe yī chí bō, yì bǐ dà fù zhǎng zhě nǚ jiā.

[0871c23] "At that time, the daughter of the great Brahmin family (婆羅門大姓女 [po luo men da xing nu]) took that gem-adorned parasol (寶蓋 [bao gai]) and offered it to Kāśyapa the Tathāgata (迦葉如來 [jia ye ru lai]), Arhat (阿羅呵 [a luo he]), and Samyaksaṃbuddha (三藐三佛陀 [san miao san fu tuo]). After offering it, she recited a verse (偈誦 [ji song]) and said:

A gem-adorned parasol of various kinds, with a golden handle, And a subtle, fine cloth covering it, with flowers on top, I offer it to the great and dignified man, May the World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun]) mercifully accept it.

[0871c23] “ěr shí, pó luó mén dà xìng nǚ chí bǐ bǎo gài, fèng xiàn jiā yè rú lái,, ā luó hē,, sān miǎo sān fú tuó, fèng xiàn qì, fù yǐ jì sòng, ér shuō zhī yuē:

[0871c28] "At that time, Kāśyapa the Tathāgata (迦葉如來 [jia ye ru lai]), Arhat (阿羅呵 [a luo he]), and Samyaksaṃbuddha (三藐三佛陀 [san miao san fu tuo]), out of compassion for that woman, accepted her gem-adorned parasol (寶蓋 [bao gai]). O bhikṣuṇīs! Do not doubt that the woman who offered the gem-adorned parasol (施寶蓋女 [shi bao gai nu]) at that time was someone else. She is this bhikṣuṇī Bhadrā Kāpilīya (跋陀羅迦卑梨耶比丘尼 [ba tuo luo jia bei li ye bi qiu ni]).
