[0871b04] At that time, the bhikṣuṇī Mahāprajāpatī Gautamī (摩訶波闍波提憍曇彌比丘尼 [mo he bo du bo ti jiao tan mi bi qiu ni]) ordained the outsider woman Bhadrā Kāpilīya (跋陀羅迦卑梨耶外道之女 [ba tuo luo jia bei li ye wai dao zhi nu]) to renounce home (出家 [chu jia]) and granted her the full precepts (具足戒 [ju zu jie]). Not long after receiving the precepts, she went to a quiet place (空閑處 [kong xian chu]) and dwelled alone and in peace, far from all defilements (諸濁 [zhu zhuo]), practicing diligently and with a non-negligent mind (心不放逸 [xin bu fang yi]).

[0871b08] At that time, after the outsider woman Bhadrā Kāpilīya (跋陀羅迦卑梨耶外道之女 [ba tuo luo jia bei li ye wai dao zhi nu]) had renounced home and received the full precepts, and was dwelling with a non-negligent mind, not long after, among the assembly, many good men and good women, having faith, renounced home (出家 [chu jia]) to seek the supreme Brahma-faring (無上梵行 [wu shang fan xing]). They now see the Dharma, have attained spiritual powers (神通 [shen tong]), have completed their task, and dwell in bliss, proclaiming with their own mouths: "Birth and death (生死 [sheng si]) have been cut off, the Brahma-faring (梵行 [fan xing]) has been established, what had to be done has been done, and there will be no future becoming (不受後有 [bu shou hou you])."

[0871b14] When this elder woman (長老女 [zhang lao nu]) knew and saw this, she attained the fruit of an Arhat (阿羅漢果 [a luo han guo]) and her mind was liberated (心得解脫 [xin de jie tuo]). The World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun]) gave a prophecy again, telling the bhikṣus: "Among the bhikṣuṇīs (比丘尼 [bi qiu ni]) who are Śrāvakas (聲聞比丘尼 [sheng wen bi qiu ni]) and can remember past lives (識宿命 [shi su ming]), this bhikṣuṇī Bhadrā Kāpilīya (跋陀羅迦卑梨耶比丘尼 [ba tuo luo jia bei li ye bi qiu ni]) is foremost."
