[0871a09] At that time, that bhikṣuṇī (比丘尼 [bi qiu ni]) extolled the virtues of the Buddha (佛功德 [fu gong de]) and his Śrāvaka disciples (聲聞弟子 [sheng wen di zi]) in this way before the woman Bhadrā Kāpilīya (跋陀羅迦卑梨耶女 [ba tuo luo jia bei li ye nu]). When the outsider woman Bhadrā Kāpilīya (跋陀羅迦卑梨耶外道之女 [ba tuo luo jia bei li ye wai dao zhi nu]) heard this, her mind became pure (心得清淨 [xin de qing jing]) towards the Tathāgata (如來 [ru lai]) and the assembly of bhikṣus (比丘僧 [bi qiu seng]). Having become pure, she told that bhikṣuṇī: "Excellent, sister! If that is so, I will follow you." At that time, that bhikṣuṇī said to the outsider woman Bhadrā Kāpilīya (跋陀羅迦卑梨耶外道女 [ba tuo luo jia bei li ye wai dao nu]): "Excellent, sister! Let's travel together, riding on my spiritual power (神通 [shen tong])."

[0871a16] At that time, Bhadrā (跋陀羅 [ba tuo luo]) replied to that bhikṣuṇī, saying: "Excellent, sister! I, too, have my own spiritual powers (神通 [shen tong])."

[0871a16] 爾時,跋陀羅報彼比丘尼,作如是言: “善哉姊妹! 然我身自有神通也.”

[0871a16] ěr shí, bá tuó luó bào bǐ bǐ qiū ní, zuò rú shì yán: “shàn zāi zǐ mèi! rán wǒ shēn zì yǒu shén tōng yě.”

[0871a18] At that time, that bhikṣuṇī and the outsider woman Bhadrā Kāpilīya (跋陀羅迦卑梨耶外道女 [ba tuo luo jia bei li ye wai dao nu]), having set off from there, in the time it takes a strong man to bend and extend his arm, disappeared from the Gaṅgā River (恒河所 [heng he suo]) and suddenly appeared in Jetavana Grove (祇陀林中 [qi tuo lin zhong]), where they went to the Buddha's place (佛所 [fu suo]). The outsider woman Bhadrā Kāpilīya (跋陀羅迦卑梨耶外道之女 [ba tuo luo jia bei li ye wai dao zhi nu]), seeing the World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun]) from afar, so dignified and wonderful, adorned like the stars in the sky, her mind became pure (心得清淨 [xin de qing jing]). She immediately went before the Buddha, and after arriving, she bowed her head at the Buddha's feet (頂禮佛足 [ding li fu zu]) and said to him: "Excellent! World-Honored One! Please allow me to renounce home (出家 [chu jia]), and grant me the full precepts (具戒 [ju jie])."

[0871a18] ěr shí, bǐ bǐ qiū ní gòng bá tuó luó jiā bēi lí yé wài dào nǚ, yú bǐ fā yǐn, yì rú zhuàng shì qū shēn bì qǐng, cóng héng hé suǒ jí biàn méi shēn, yú qí tuó lín zhōng, hū rán chū xiàn, wǎng yì fú suǒ. qí bá tuó luó jiā bēi lí yé wài dào zhī nǚ, yáo jiàn shì zūn, duān yán shū miào, nǎi zhì yóu rú xū kōng zhòng xīng zhuāng yán, jiàn yǐ xīn dé qīng jìng, jí zhì fú qián, dào yǐ dǐng lǐ fú zú, ér bái fú yán: “shàn zāi! shì zūn! tīng wǒ chū jiā, shòu wǒ jù jiè.”

[0871a18] er shi, bi bi qiu ni gong ba tuo luo jia bei li ye wai dao nu, yu bi fa yin, yi ru zhuang shi qu shen bi qing, cong heng he suo ji bian mei shen, yu qi tuo lin zhong, hu ran chu xian, wang yi fu suo. qi ba tuo luo jia bei li ye wai dao zhi nu, yao jian shi zun, duan yan shu miao, nai zhi you ru xu kong zhong xing zhuang yan, jian yi xin de qing jing, ji zhi fu qian, dao yi ding li fu zu, er bai fu yan: "shan zai! shi zun! ting wo chu jia, shou wo ju jie."
