[0843b27] "At that time, the World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun]), after accepting and finishing the meal from Uruvilvā Kāśyapa (優婁頻螺迦葉 [you lou pin luo jia ye]), gradually walked away. Not far from Uruvilvā Kāśyapa’s (優婁頻螺迦葉 [you lou pin luo jia ye]) place, there was a forest called Chālīnikā (差梨尼迦 [cha li ni jia]) (Sui word: a tree that, when its branch is chopped, yields milk). He stayed in that forest, walking back and forth. At that time, the four mighty great heavenly kings (四鎮四大天王 [si zhen si da tian wang]), radiating supreme light, came down to the world at midnight. With the light of their heavenly bodies, they illuminated the entire forest and went to the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) place. When they arrived at the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) place, they prostrated themselves at his feet, put their palms together, and stepped back. Each stood on one side, according to the direction from which they came, and bowed to the Buddha (佛 [fu]). Their heads were lowered in reverence, and like a heap of blazing fire, they emitted a great, brilliant light, illuminating the Chālīnikā (尼迦 [ni jia]) forest.

[0843c06] "At that time, Uruvilvā Kāśyapa (優婁頻螺迦葉 [you lou pin luo jia ye]), after that night had passed, went towards the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) place in the morning. When he arrived at the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) place, he said to the Buddha (佛 [fu]), 'Great Virtuous Śramaṇa (大德沙門 [da de sha men])! The mealtime has arrived, and the food is prepared. I wonder who those four people were last night? They emitted a most supreme and wonderful light and came to this great Śramaṇa’s (大沙門 [da sha men]) side at midnight, illuminating this forest. When they arrived, they prostrated themselves, stepped back and stood on one side, bowing their heads and putting their palms together, standing respectfully like a heap of fire emitting a great brilliant light.'

Those four people were the four great heavenly kings (四天王 [si tian wang]), who came to my place to ask me about the Dharma.' At that time, Uruvilvā Kāśyapa (優婁頻螺迦葉 [you lou pin luo jia ye]) thought, 'This great Śramaṇa (大沙門 [da sha men]) has great majestic and virtuous power! Although his power is great, he has not yet attained the fruit of Arhatship (阿羅漢果 [a luo han guo]) as I have now.'

[0843c18] "At that time, the World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun]) went to the dwelling place of Uruvilvā Kāśyapa (優婁頻螺迦葉 [you lou pin luo jia ye]), and after finishing his meal, he returned to the forest, walking and staying peacefully. At that time, the heavenly king of Trāyastriṃśa (忉利 [dao li]), Śakra (帝釋 [di shi]), emitted the most supreme and wonderful light from his body. At midnight, he illuminated the entire forest and came to the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) place. When he arrived, he prostrated himself at the feet of the Buddha (佛 [fu]), the World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun]), and stepped back, standing on one side with his palms together, facing the Buddha (佛 [fu]). Like a heap of fire, he emitted a great, brilliant light, a hundred times more radiant than the four heavenly kings (四天王 [si tian wang]) before, with a brilliance that was incomparable.

Although his virtue and power are great, he has not yet attained the fruit of Arhatship (阿羅漢果 [a luo han guo]) as I have now.

[0844a29] "At that time, the World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun]), after accepting and finishing the meal from Uruvilvā Kāśyapa (優婁頻螺迦葉 [you lou pin luo jia ye]), returned to that forest, walking and staying. At midnight, the lord of the Sahā (娑婆 [suo po]) world, the great Brahmā heavenly king (大梵天王 [da fan tian wang]), emitted light from his body, illuminating the entire forest and coming to the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) place. When he arrived at the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) place, he put his palms together, prostrated himself at the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) feet, and stepped back, standing on one side, facing the Buddha (佛 [fu]). Like a heap of fire, he emitted a great fierce flame, a hundred times brighter than the light of the previous heavens of the desire realm (欲界 [yu jie]), which was beyond comparison.

When he arrived at the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) place, he said to the Buddha (佛 [fu]), 'Great Virtuous Śramaṇa (大德沙門 [da de sha men])! The mealtime has arrived, and the food is prepared. I wonder who came last night, emitting supreme light that illuminated the entire forest and came to this great Śramaṇa’s (大沙門 [da sha men]) side? He put his palms together, prostrated himself, and stepped back, and his light was even more supreme than the light of the desire realm (欲天 [yu tian]) heavens before.'

The one who came was the lord of this Sahā (娑婆 [suo po]) world, the great Brahmā heavenly king (大梵天王 [da fan tian wang]), who came to my place to listen to and receive the Dharma (法 [fa]).' At that time, Kāśyapa (迦葉 [jia ye]) thought, 'This great Śramaṇa (大沙門 [da sha men]) has great power and majestic supernatural abilities! He can make the lord of the Sahā (娑婆 [suo po]) world, the great Brahmā heavenly king (大梵天王 [da fan tian wang]), come to his side to listen to the Dharma (法 [fa]). Although his virtue and power are great, he has not yet attained the fruit of Arhatship (阿羅漢果 [a luo han guo]) as I have now.'

[0844b12] “爾時,世尊即告優婁頻螺迦葉,作如是言: ‘仁者迦葉! 彼所來者,是此娑婆世界之主,大梵天王,來詣我所,欲聽受法.’ 是時,迦葉作如是念: ‘此大沙門! 大有威力! 大有威神! 乃令娑婆世界之主大梵天王,來至其邊,欲聽於法;威德雖然,其猶不得阿羅漢果如我今也.’

[0844b12] “ěr shí, shì zūn jí gào yōu lóu pín luó jiā yè, zuò rú shì yán: ‘rén zhě jiā yè! bǐ suǒ lái zhě, shì cǐ suō pó shì jiè zhī zhǔ, dà fàn tiān wáng, lái yì wǒ suǒ, yù tīng shòu fǎ.’ shì shí, jiā yè zuò rú shì niàn: ‘cǐ dà shā mén! dà yǒu wēi lì! dà yǒu wēi shén! nǎi lìng suō pó shì jiè zhī zhǔ dà fàn tiān wáng, lái zhì qí biān, yù tīng yú fǎ; wēi dé suī rán, qí yóu bù dé ā luó hàn guǒ rú wǒ jīn yě.’
