[0545c25] At that time, the Buddha told the Bhikkhus (比丘 [bi qiu]): "The Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]), for the sake of Devas (天 [tian]) and humans, expounded the Dharma (正法 [zheng fa]), encouraging and enlightening them, making them joyful. He told the Deva (天 [tian]) assembly: 'In what form shall I descend to Jambudvīpa (閻浮提 [yan fu ti])?' Some said: 'In the form of a child (童子 [tong zi]).' Some said: 'In the form of Śakra (釋 [shi]) or Brahmā (梵 [fan]).' Some said: 'In the form of a divine being (神妙天形 [shen miao tian xing]).' Some said: 'In the form of an Asura (阿修羅 [a xiu luo]), Gandharva (乾闥婆 [gan ta po]), Garuḍa (迦樓羅 [jia lou luo]), Kinnara (緊那羅 [jin na luo]), Mahoraga (摩睺羅伽 [mo hou luo jia]), etc.' Some said: 'In the form of the sun (日 [ri]) or moon (月 [yue]) deva (天 [tian]).' Some said: 'In the form of a golden-winged bird (金翅鳥形 [jin chi niao xing]).' They spoke of various forms such as these. At that time, there was a deva-child (天子 [tian zi]) in the assembly named Śataprabha (勝光 [sheng guang]), who was formerly a Brāhmaṇa (婆羅門 [po luo men]) in Jambudvīpa (閻浮提 [yan fu ti]), and whose mind did not waver from unsurpassed Bodhi (無上菩提 [wu shang pu ti]). He said: 'The Vedas (圍陀論 [wei tuo lun]) state that a Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) descending to be born should enter the mother's womb in the form of an elephant (象形 [xiang xing]).' Then he spoke in verses:
"'When the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) descends,
He should be in the form of an elephant (象形 [xiang xing]),
Upright and beautiful,
With a red crown.
Pure and bright,
Like white bhojapatra (玻 [bo][王 [wang]*(黍 [shu]-禾 [he]+利 [li])]),
Possessing six tusks,
Adorned with golden reins.
All auspicious,
As foretold by the Vedas (圍陀 [wei tuo]),
With thirty-two marks,
He shall descend to Jambudvīpa (閻浮 [yan fu]).'”

[0546a13] The Buddha told the Bhikkhus (比丘 [bi qiu]): "When the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) was about to descend from Tuṣita Heaven (兜率天宮 [dou lu tian gong]), after observing everywhere, eight auspicious signs first appeared in the palace of King Śuddhodana (輸檀 [shu tan]). What are these eight? First, the palace suddenly became clean; without sweeping or cleaning, there was no defilement, dust, broken tiles, mosquitoes, centipedes, or other noxious insects. Various wonderful flowers were scattered all around, fragrant and fresh. Second, various birds of different species and bright, colorful feathers gathered from the Snow Mountains (雪山中 [xue shan zhong]). In the palace, on the towers, halls, beams, windows, and eaves, they sang sadly in harmony, enjoying themselves in playful flight. Third, in the palace, grasses, trees, flowers, and leaves all bloomed at once. Fourth, lotuses as large as chariot wheels, with a hundred thousand petals, grew in all the palace ponds, covering the surface of the water. Fifth, in the palace, precious vessels naturally contained suya (蘇油 [su you]) oil, rock candy (石蜜 [shi mi]), and various delicious foods, which were inexhaustible when eaten. Sixth, musical instruments in the palace, such as flutes (簫 [xiao]), kōnghóu (箜篌 [kong hou]), zithers (琴 [qin]), and lutes (瑟 [se]), produced various subtle sounds without being played. Seventh, all the treasured gold (金 [jin]), silver (銀 [yin]), lapis lazuli (琉璃 [liu li]), carrara (車璩 [che qu]), agate (馬瑙 [ma nao]), mani (摩尼 [mo ni]), and coral (珊瑚 [shan hu]) in the palace were filled to overflowing. Eighth, a great light illuminated the palace, outshining the sun (日 [ri]) and moon (月 [yue]). Those who encountered this light felt peace and joy in body and mind, experiencing something unprecedented. These are called the eight auspicious signs.

[0546a28] "At that time, the Holy Queen Māyā (摩耶聖后 [mo ye sheng hou]), having bathed and adorned herself, applied various heavenly fragrances, wore exquisite clothes, and adorned herself with various jewels. Joyful and pure in body and mind, she was surrounded and attended by ten thousand maids, and went to King Śuddhodana (輸檀王 [shu tan wang]) in the music hall. To the king's right, she ascended a wonderful jeweled net-adorned seat. Having sat down, her countenance was serene, and she smiled broadly. Then she spoke in verses:
"'Excellent, great King, please kindly grant me permission,
I now wish to express a subtle vow:
From this moment, I shall always cultivate a compassionate mind,
And uphold the eight pure precepts.
I shall not harm living beings, cherishing them as myself,
Always practicing the ten good deeds in body, speech, and mind,
Avoiding jealousy and deceitful thoughts.
May the King not conceive any defilement towards me.
Hearing of these precepts, I do not merely rejoice,
Lest the King suffer long in retribution.
I only wish to dwell separately,
In a palace adorned with incense and flowers.
Surrounded always by virtuous maids,
Playing musical instruments and singing songs of Dharma (法音 [fa yin]),
May vulgar and evil people be kept away from me,
And all impure fragrances and flowers be avoided.
All prisoners shall be pardoned,
Their prisons emptied.
For seven days and seven nights, I shall widely practice generosity,
Providing for the poor and needy until they are satisfied.
I must ensure righteous governance, easing forced labor,
And abolishing all lawsuits in the public court.
May everyone show compassion to one another,
Like ascending to the Trāyastriṃśa Heaven (忉利 [dao li]) Pleasure Garden (歡喜園 [huan xi yuan]).
Compassionate to the world as if it were a single child,
Such is the Dharma (法教 [fa jiao]), truly peaceful and joyful.'
The King, hearing these words, was greatly delighted,
And granted all her wishes.
He immediately ordered his ministers to purify the palace,
Adorning it with banners, canopies, incense, and flowers as they pleased.
He also sent twenty thousand valiant soldiers,
Armed with swords and halberds, to guard it.
Maids entertained with stringed instruments and songs,
And adorned themselves with necklaces.
Precious couches and jeweled seats were covered with soft cushions,
She dwelt in the magnificent palace like a goddess (天女 [tian nu])."

If we devas (諸天 [zhu tian]) do not go to serve him, we will be ungrateful and forgetful of his kindness. Who is capable of attending and protecting the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) as he descends to Jambudvīpa (閻浮提 [yan fu ti]), from his first entering the womb and emerging from it, through his childhood, youth, indulgence in desires, renunciation, ascetic practices, reaching the Bodhi seat (菩提座 [pu ti zuo]), subduing Māra's army (魔軍 [mo jun]), turning the wheel of Dharma (正法輪 [zheng fa lun]), displaying great supernatural powers, descending from Trāyastriṃśa Heaven (忉利天 [dao li tian]), and entering Parinirvāṇa (般涅槃 [ban nie pan])? Who can always serve him without ever leaving him?' At that time, the deva-children (諸天子 [zhu tian zi]) spoke in verses:
"'Which of you are capable,
To joyfully follow the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa])?
You shall gain increased merit,
And also acquire great renown.
If you seek the Trāyastriṃśa Palace (忉利宮 [dao li gong]),
Exquisite, constantly peaceful and joyful,
Surrounded by a host of maids,
You should follow the pure moon.
If you seek wonderful gardens,
Excellent places for constant play,
Jeweled grounds adorned with golden flowers,
You should follow the blemish-free light.
If you seek elephants, horses, and chariots,
To wander in the joyful garden,
Surrounded by a host of maids,
You should follow the great man.
If you seek the Yama Heaven (夜摩天 [ye mo tian]),
And also the Tuṣita Palace (兜率宮 [dou lu gong]),
And to be always revered wherever you are born,
You should follow the renowned one.
If you seek the Nirmanarati Heaven (化樂天 [hua le tian]),
With all its palaces,
And to play and enjoy transformations,
You should follow the one with merits.
If you seek to be a Māra King (魔王 [mo wang]),
Far from all poisonous thoughts,
With boundless supernatural powers,
You should follow the benefactor.
If you seek to transcend the desire realm (欲界 [yu jie]),
And dwell in the supreme Brahma Palace (梵宮 [fan gong]),
Practicing the four immeasurable states,
You should follow the meditator.
If you seek to be born among humans,
And receive the supreme reward of a Cakravartin (輪王 [lun wang]),
With the seven treasures appearing at will,
You should follow the venerable one free from desires.
If you seek the position of a human king (人王位 [ren wang wei]),
An elder, or a householder,
With wealth and no enemies,
You should follow the unsurpassed one.
If you seek great wealth and honor,
Beauty and renown,
With influential commands,
You should follow the one with a Brahma voice (梵音者 [fan yin zhe]).
If you seek the reward of devas (天報 [tian bao]) and humans,
And to bring peace to the three realms,
With undefiled wisdom and meditation,
You should follow the master of Dharma (法自在 [fa zi zai]).
If you seek to sever greed,
And remove anger and ignorance,
With a tranquil and detached mind,
You should follow the one who disciplines the mind.
If you seek omniscience,
Pratyekabuddhas (緣覺 [yuan jue]) and Śrāvakas (聲聞 [sheng wen]),
The lion's roar in the ten directions,
You should follow the ocean of merits.
If you seek to close off evil paths,
And open the doors to ambrosia (甘露門 [gan lu men]),
Ascending the Eightfold Noble Path (八正道 [ba zheng dao]),
You should follow the one who avoids dangerous paths.
If you seek to see all Buddhas (諸佛 [zhu fu]),
And listen to the profound Dharma (甚深法 [shen shen fa]),
And hope for all blessings,
You should follow the treasure of merits.
If you seek to escape bondage,
The suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death,
Pure as empty space,
You should follow the blemish-free person.
If you seek universal reverence,
With excellent marks and adorned virtues,
And the ability to save oneself and others,
You should follow the one who is delightful.
If you seek precepts, meditation, and wisdom,
Profound and difficult to attain,
And for the wise to quickly achieve liberation,
You should follow the great physician king.
If you seek immeasurable virtues,
Completely fulfilled,

[0547a16] "At that time, when the assembly of devas (諸天眾會 [zhu tian zhong hui]) heard these verses, eighty-four thousand Cāturmahārājika Devas (四天王天 [si tian wang tian]), hundreds of thousands of Trāyastriṃśa Devas (忉利天 [dao li tian]), hundreds of thousands of Yama Devas (夜摩天 [ye mo tian]), hundreds of thousands of Tuṣita Devas (兜率天 [dou lu tian]), hundreds of thousands of Nirmanarati Devas (化樂天 [hua le tian]), hundreds of thousands of Paranirmita-vaśavartin Devas (他化自在天 [ta hua zi zai tian]), sixty thousand Māra Devas (魔天 [mo tian]), sixty-eight thousand Brahmakāyika Devas (梵眾天 [fan zhong tian]) who had accumulated virtue in previous lives, and even Akaniṣṭha Devas (阿迦尼吒天 [a jia ni zha tian]) and innumerable hundreds of thousands of other devas (諸天 [zhu tian]), such devas (天 [tian]) who had already arrived, and also countless hundreds of thousands of deva (諸天 [zhu tian]) assemblies from other directions—east, west, south, north, the four intermediate directions, above, and below—all gathered. At that time, a leading deva-child (天子 [tian zi]) in the great assembly spoke in verses:
"'You all should listen now,
I have made a firm resolve,
To abandon desires and supernatural powers,
And the joy of all meditations and samādhis (三昧 [san mei]).
I shall follow the supreme one,
As he descends and enters his mother's womb.
I shall not allow any evil to harm him,
And I shall always protect him.
With all wonderful music,
I shall praise the ocean of merits,
Making devas (天 [tian]) and humans rejoice,
And inspiring them to cultivate the unsurpassed path (無上道心 [wu shang dao xin]).'
When humans and devas (天 [tian]) heard this,
Their many sufferings disappeared with joy,
They scattered Maṇḍārava flowers (曼陀花 [man tuo hua]),
And candana (月花 [yue hua]) and pārijātaka flowers (勝月 [sheng yue]),
And burned agarwood incense (沈水香 [chen shui xiang]),
Offering it to the pure and blessed one.
'The Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) in the womb,
Is not defiled by the three impurities,
Transcending birth, old age, sickness, and death,
He guides to the utmost limits.
We, with pure hearts,
Shall follow the wise one.
Śakra (釋 [shi]), Brahmā (梵 [fan]), and the deva kings (天王 [tian wang]) and others,
When they see him take seven steps,
Will hold perfumed water in their hands,
To bathe this pure saint.
Following the ways of the world,
Humans and devas (天 [tian]) obtain great blessings.
In desire, yet always undefiled,
Abandoning his precious throne by going over the city wall,
We wish to follow him.
Spreading grass and sitting at the bodhimaṇḍa (道場 [dao chang]),
Subduing Māra (魔 [mo]) and attaining perfect enlightenment,
Persuading others to preach the subtle Dharma (妙法 [miao fa]),
Buddha's (佛事 [fu shi]) deeds遍三界 [bian san jie] (遍三界 [bian san jie]),
Ambrosia (甘露 [gan lu]) permeates all living beings,
Until he returns to Nirvāṇa (涅槃 [nie pan]),
We shall always follow without ever abandoning him.'”

[0547b15] The Buddha told the Bhikkhus (比丘 [bi qiu]): "At that time, countless deva-maidens (天女 [tian nu]) from the desire realm (欲界 [yu jie]), seeing the subtle marks of the Bodhisattva's (菩薩 [pu sa]) body and his impending descent, each said: 'What kind of woman is worthy to give birth to the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa])? She must possess superior virtues to conceive such a revered one.' All of them admired her with reverence and love. With their own blessings, they attained supernatural powers and mind-made bodies, and in an instant, they arrived from their deva-palaces (天宮 [tian gong]) at Kapilavastu (迦毘羅城 [jia pi luo cheng]). The city of Kapilavastu (迦毘羅城 [jia pi luo cheng]) had a circumference of hundreds of thousands of yojanas (由旬 [you xun]), adorned with magnificent gardens and ponds, like the palace of Indra (帝釋 [di shi]). Within its palace was a great hall named Dhṛtarāṣṭra (持國 [chi guo]), where Holy Queen Māyā (摩耶聖后 [mo ye sheng hou]) resided. It was magnificently adorned, pure, spotless, bright, and awe-inspiring. The Holy Queen (聖后 [sheng hou]) wore necklaces and heavenly garments, her body adorned with various wonderful jewels. When the deva-maidens (諸天女 [zhu tian nu]) arrived at this hall, they stood in the sky, gazing at the Holy Queen (聖后 [sheng hou]). And there were verses:
"The deva-maidens (諸天女 [zhu tian nu]) of the desire realm (欲界 [yu jie]),
Observing the Bodhisattva's (菩薩 [pu sa]) subtle body,
All thought: 'What kind of mother does the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) have?'
They competed in holding flower garlands,
Perfumes and powdered incense,
Joyfully went to the royal palace,
And respectfully clasped their hands.
Beautifully dressed, they stretched out their hands and pointed,
Seeing her sitting on a magnificent jeweled couch,
They observed her carefully with good intentions.
'Such a wonderful quality in humans,
Has never been seen in heaven.
We always considered ourselves,
Superior among deva-maidens (天女 [tian nu]).
Now seeing this person,
We feel a sense of inferiority,
Adorned with supreme virtues,
Her countenance is exceedingly beautiful.
If not for this supreme virtue,
Who would be worthy to be the Bodhisattva's (菩薩 [pu sa]) mother?
Like a priceless jewel,
Placed in a pure jeweled vessel.
Similarly, the Bodhisattva's (菩薩 [pu sa]) mother,
Is worthy to conceive one with supreme virtue.
Those who see her rejoice,
Their hearts never weary.
Her face is exceedingly beautiful,
Her body radiates immense light,
Like the moon in the sky,
Seeing her purifies the mind.
Like the sun shining brightly,
Like pure gold refined a hundred times,
The light of the Bodhisattva's (菩薩 [pu sa]) mother is also like this.
Her hair is fragrant and soft,
Dark blue like a black bee,
Her teeth are white as stars in the sky,
Her eyes like blue lotus leaves.
Her limbs move gracefully,
Her hands and feet are all perfectly formed,
Unequaled even in heaven,
Who in the human world can compare to her?'
Thus, they carefully observed,
Circled her clockwise, scattering fragrant flowers,
Praised the Buddha's (佛母 [fu mu]) mother by name,
And returned to heaven.
At that time, the Four Guardian Kings (四護世 [si hu shi]),
Śakra (釋 [shi]), Brahmā (梵 [fan]), and the devas (欲天 [yu tian]) of the desire realm (欲天 [yu tian]),
And the other eight classes of beings,
All came to guard the Buddha's (佛母 [fu mu]) mother.
All devas (諸天 [zhu tian]) had already seen,
The Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) about to descend,
They brought wonderful fragrant flowers,
And joyfully stood before her.
Clasping their hands, they bowed and requested,
'The time for your descent has arrived,
O lion king (師子王 [shi zi wang]) of eloquence,
Have compassion and be born into the world.'"

[0547c27] The Buddha told the Bhikkhus (比丘 [bi qiu]): "When the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) was about to descend to be born, countless hundreds of thousands of Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]) from the east, all being Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]) on their last rebirth, came to Tuṣita Heaven (兜率天宮 [dou lu tian gong]) to make offerings to the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]). From the south, west, north, the four intermediate directions, above, and below, Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]) on their last rebirth all came to Tuṣita Heaven (兜率天宮 [dou lu tian gong]) to make offerings to the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]). From the worlds in the ten directions, Cāturmahārājika Devas (四天王天 [si tian wang tian]), Trāyastriṃśa Devas (三十三天 [san shi san tian]), Yama Devas (夜摩天 [ye mo tian]), Tuṣita Devas (兜率陀天 [dou lu tuo tian]), Nirmanarati Devas (樂變化天 [le bian hua tian]), Paranirmita-vaśavartin Devas (他化自在天 [ta hua zi zai tian]), such beings, each with eighty-four thousand deva-maidens (天女 [tian nu]) surrounding them, came to Tuṣita Palace (兜率宮 [dou lu gong]), playing musical instruments and singing songs to make offerings to the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]). At that time, the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) was in a grand pavilion, seated on a majestic lion-throne born of all virtues. Those Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]) and countless hundreds of thousands of billions of nayutas (那由他 [na you ta]) of devas (諸天 [zhu tian]) surrounded him, making offerings, showing reverence, respect, and praise. Immediately, he descended from the supreme Tuṣita Heaven (兜率 [dou lu]Heaven (天宮 [tian gong])) and was born.

[0548a08] "When he was about to descend to be born, an unprecedented light emanated from his body, illuminating the entire Trisāhasra-mahāsāhasra-lokadhātu (三千大千世界 [san qian da qian shi jie]), and even the dark places in between worlds that the radiance of the sun (日 [ri]) and moon (月 [yue]) could not reach, all became brightly lit. The living beings within them could see each other and all said: 'How is it that living beings suddenly appeared here?' At that time, the Trisāhasra-mahāsāhasra-lokadhātu (三千大千世界 [san qian da qian shi jie]) was shaken in six ways, with eighteen signs: namely, shaking, extreme shaking, universal shaking; striking, extreme striking, universal striking; moving, extreme moving, universal moving; surging and overturning, extreme surging and overturning, universal surging and overturning; emitting sound, extreme emitting sound, universal emitting sound; surging at the edges and sinking in the middle, surging in the middle and sinking at the edges, surging in the east and sinking in the west, surging in the west and sinking in the east, surging in the south and sinking in the north, surging in the north and sinking in the south. At that time, all living beings rejoiced greatly, experiencing pure and boundless happiness, praising and extolling. When they heard these sounds, not a single living being felt fear or terror. The radiance of Brahmā (梵 [fan]), Śakra (釋 [shi]), and the Guardian Devas (護世 [hu shi]), and the sun (日 [ri]) and moon (月 [yue]), all disappeared. All beings in the hells, animal realm, and hungry ghost realm, as well as all other living beings, all found peace and comfort. No living being at this time was afflicted by greed, anger, ignorance, or any other defilements. They looked upon each other with compassion and arose beneficial thoughts, like father and mother, like elder brother and younger brother. The musical instruments of humans and devas (天 [tian]) played by themselves without being struck. Countless devas (諸天 [zhu tian]) lifted and held this wonderful pavilion on their heads. Countless hundreds of thousands of deva-maidens (天女 [tian nu]) surrounded him, playing heavenly music. From the sound of the music came these wonderful verses, praising the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]):
"'The Venerable One has long cultivated,
All pure karmas are perfected,
Dwelling in the truly supreme principle,
Now receives the supreme offerings of devas (天 [tian]) and humans.
In countless koṭis (拘胝 [ju zhi]) of kalpas (劫 [jie]) in the past,
He was able to give away his beloved wife and children,
Through his acts of generosity, he obtained supreme rewards,
Hence he receives wonderful flowers and fragrances from the devas (天 [tian]).
He cut his own flesh and weighed it,
With compassion saving the dying dove,
Again through his acts of generosity, he obtained supreme rewards,
Enabling hungry ghosts to be satisfied.
The Venerable One, in immeasurable kalpas (劫 [jie]) past,
Upheld pure precepts without ever violating them,
Through his śīla (尸羅 [shi luo]), he obtained supreme rewards,
Enabling evil realms to cease all sufferings.
The Venerable One, in immeasurable kalpas (劫 [jie]) past,
Practiced patience for the sake of Bodhi (菩提 [pu ti]),
Through his kṣānti (羼提 [chan ti]), he obtained supreme rewards,
Enabling humans and devas (天 [tian]) to be compassionate to each other.
The Venerable One, in immeasurable kalpas (劫 [jie]) past,
Cultivated diligence without ceasing,
Through his perseverance, he obtained supreme rewards,
His body is perfectly formed like Mount Sumeru (須彌 [xu mi]).
The Venerable One, in immeasurable kalpas (劫 [jie]) past,
Cultivated various samādhis (諸定 [zhu ding]) to sever defilements,
Through his dhyāna (禪那 [chan na]), he obtained supreme rewards,
Enabling freedom from defilements in this life.
The Venerable One, in immeasurable kalpas (劫 [jie]) past,
Cultivated wisdom to sever all defilements,
Through his prajñā (般若 [ban ruo]), he obtained supreme rewards,
Enabling his light to be exceedingly pure.
Clad in the armor of compassion, dispelling defilements,
Out of compassion for the world, he is now born,
Attaining the supreme joy and equanimity,
The Venerable One has attained Brahma-vihāras (梵住 [fan zhu]), to him we bow in homage.
Illuminating with the torch of wisdom,
Cleansing the darkness of ignorance and all faults,
Lord of the Trisāhasra-mahāsāhasra-lokadhātu (三千大千 [san qian da qian]),
To the great guide Muni (牟尼 [mou ni]), we bow in homage.
With supreme wisdom and supernatural powers,
He can manifest the true meaning,
Having saved himself, he can save others,
To the ferryman who can cross, we bow in homage.
He conforms to worldly Dharma (法 [fa]), appearing as an ordinary person,
Yet is not defiled by worldly Dharma (法 [fa]),
If all living beings hear or see him,
They will obtain inconceivable and supreme benefits,
How much more so if they listen to the Venerable One's subtle Dharma (妙法 [miao fa]),
Faith and joy will give rise to vast goodness.
Tuṣita Heaven (兜率天宮 [dou lu tian gong]) becomes dark,
In Jambudvīpa (閻浮提 [yan fu ti]) the sun is about to rise,
All living beings in the slumber of defilements,
The Venerable One shall awaken them all.
Kapilavastu (迦毘羅城 [jia pi luo cheng]) shall flourish even more,
Surrounded by countless hosts of devas (諸天 [zhu tian]),
Deva-maidens (天女 [tian nu]) play heavenly music,
Spreading wonderful sounds throughout the royal city.
The Buddha's (佛母 [fu mu]) mother is adorned with subtle beauty,
Her meritorious and majestic countenance rides on pure karma,
The holy child is exceedingly beautiful and extraordinary,
His light illuminates the Trisāhasra-mahāsāhasra-lokadhātu (三千界 [san qian jie]).
All living beings in that land,
Are free from disputes and defilements,
All are compassionate and respectful to each other,
All due to the Bodhisattva's (菩薩 [pu sa]) power.
The Śuddhodana (輸檀王 [shu tan wang]) lineage shall flourish,
And thus shall inherit the Cakravartin (轉輪王 [zhuan lun wang]) throne,
All treasures in that city,
All precious jewels shall be overflowing.
Yakṣas (夜叉 [ye cha]), Rākṣasas (羅剎 [luo sha]), Kumbhāṇḍas (鳩槃茶 [jiu pan cha]),
Asuras (修羅 [xiu luo]), Milikṣas (密跡 [mi ji]), and devas (諸天 [zhu tian]),
Guarding the place where the Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) resides,
Shall soon all attain liberation,
All shall dedicate themselves to the path of Bodhi (菩提 [pu ti]),
And wish to quickly attain perfect enlightenment like the Venerable One.'”
