[0255c08] "Good man! At that time, Haiji Brahmana (海濟婆羅門 [hai ji po luo men]) addressed the eighth crown prince, Amouju (阿摸具 [a mo ju]), in brief. 'World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun])! When I am in a defiled Buddha-field (濁佛剎 [zhuo fu sha]), practicing the Bodhi (菩提 [pu ti]) deeds of a Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]), I shall first purify ten thousand defiled Buddha-fields (濁佛剎 [zhuo fu sha]) and establish them as pure, no different from the Ganxiang Guangming Wuchen (紺香光明無塵 [gan xiang guang ming wu chen]) Buddha-field (佛土 [fu tu]) of Tathāgata Guangming Wuchen Shangshen Xiangyue Zizaiwang (光明無塵上身香月自在王如來 [guang ming wu chen shang shen xiang yue zi zai wang ru lai]). I shall place such wholesome roots (善根 [shan gen]) and pure-minded (清淨意 [qing jing yi]) Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]) who seek the Great Vehicle (大乘 [da cheng]) to fill that land. Then I shall attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]) therein. Only! World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun])! I shall practice Bodhi (菩提 [pu ti]) deeds in this manner, which no other Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) can practice. World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun])! For these seven years, I have sat in solitude in one place, contemplating the merits of purifying Buddha-fields (淨佛功德佛剎莊嚴 [jing fu gong de fu sha zhuang yan]) and the merits of purifying Buddha-lands (淨佛土 [jing fu tu]). In this, I have aroused and cultivated the samadhi of manifest adornment (現莊嚴三昧 [xian zhuang yan san mei]) and eighteen thousand Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) samadhis (三昧 [san mei]). World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun])! This is how I, as a Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]), practice Bodhi (菩提 [pu ti]) deeds. With the samadhi (三昧 [san mei]) of Chenposhejiajiyoula (臣婆闍伽枳由邏 [chen po du jia zhi you luo]), I constantly see the World-Honored Buddhas (諸佛世尊 [zhu fu shi zun]) presently abiding in countless and boundless other worlds (餘世界 [yu shi jie]) in the ten directions, benefiting sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng]) and expounding the Dharma (法 [fa]). And also those who have passed through the three times, seeing those Buddhas (諸佛 [zhu fu]) filling all lands. World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun])! With minds as numerous as fine dust particles in the revolving samadhi (旋三昧 [xuan san mei]), I see those World-Honored Buddhas (諸佛世尊 [zhu fu shi zun]), surrounded by Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]), Sravakas (聲聞 [sheng wen]), and great assemblies. With the power of the samadhi of non-reliance (無依三昧力 [wu yi san mei li]), with bodies as numerous as fine dust particles in Buddha-fields (佛土 [fu tu]), I prostrate to each body, offering supreme various precious flowers (無上雜寶華 [wu shang za bao hua]), supreme various fragrant ointments (無上雜香塗 [wu shang za xiang tu]), powdered fragrances (末 [mo]), garlands (鬘 [man]), ornaments (飾 [shi]), and music (音樂 [yin le]) to the Buddhas (諸佛 [zhu fu]), each Buddha-field (佛土 [fu tu]) acting like an ocean kalpa (大海劫 [da hai jie]). With the samadhi of cultivating all bodies (一切修身三昧 [yi qie xiu shen san mei]), in an instant, I know the practices of Buddhas (佛行 [fu xing]) as numerous as fine dust particles in all Buddha-fields (佛土 [fu tu]). World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun])! With the samadhi of merit (功德三昧 [gong de san mei]), I praise each Buddha (佛 [fu]) with supreme wondrous praises as numerous as fine dust particles in Buddha-fields (佛土 [fu tu]). World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun])! With the samadhi of non-retrogression (不眴三昧 [bu xuan san mei]), with a single dust-like mind, I see Buddhas (佛 [fu]) filling all Buddha-fields (佛土 [fu tu]). World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun])! With the samadhi of non-dispute (無諍三昧 [wu zheng san mei]), in an instant, I see the adornments of past, future, and present Buddha-fields (佛剎 [fu sha]) in all Buddha-fields (佛土 [fu tu]). World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun])! With the Shurangama (首楞嚴 [shou leng yan]) samadhi (三昧 [san mei]), I enter hells (地獄 [de yu]), transform my body, and expound the Dharma (法 [fa]) to them, encouraging them to Bodhi (菩提 [pu ti]), causing them to arouse the mind. When they die therein, they are born as humans (人 [ren]), meeting the Buddhas (諸佛 [zhu fu]) presently expounding the Dharma (法 [fa]) in the world, causing those sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng]) to hear the Dharma (法 [fa]) from the Buddha (佛 [fu]) and attain the stage of non-retrogression (不退轉地 [bu tui zhuan de]). The same applies to animals (畜生 [chu sheng]), hungry ghosts (餓鬼 [e gui]), Yakshas (夜叉 [ye cha]), Rakshasas (羅剎 [luo sha]), Asuras (阿修羅 [a xiu luo]), Dragons (龍 [long]), Kinnaras (緊那羅 [jin na luo]), Mahoragas (摩睺羅伽 [mo hou luo jia]), and also in the heavens (天上 [tian shang]). And also among Pisacas (毘舍闍 [pi she du]), Putanas (富單那 [fu dan na]), Kataputanas (迦吒富單那 [jia zha fu dan na]). And also among humans (人 [ren]), Chandala (栴陀羅 [zhan tuo luo]), merchants (賈客 [jia ke]), and prostitutes (婬女 [yin nu]). Thus, World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun])! Wherever sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng]) are, I assume their forms, and according to their karma (業行因緣 [ye xing yin yuan]), experience pleasure or pain. If there are various crafts and arts, I enter into their categories and manifest their practices, skillfully using words and means to gain the hearts of sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng]), and then teach them the true Dharma (正法 [zheng fa]), encouraging them to Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]), causing them to abide in irreversible supreme perfect enlightenment (無上正遍知 [wu shang zheng bian zhi]).

[0256a13] 'Only! World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun])! When I practice Bodhi (菩提 [pu ti]) deeds for that period, I shall purify ten thousand Buddha-fields (佛土 [fu tu]), in which all sentient beings (一切眾生 [yi qie zhong sheng]) shall have their karmic defilements extinguished like poison. Even in the case of a single sentient being, there shall be no path of the four Māras (四魔道 [si mo dao]).
