[0209a12] "'World-Honored One! After I achieve Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]), I will teach the Dharma with a single sound. Some sentient beings who study the Śrāvakayāna (声闻乘 [sheng wen cheng]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, will immediately understand the Dharma treasury of the Śrāvakayāna (声闻法藏 [sheng wen fa cang]); some who cultivate the Pratyekabuddhayāna (辟支佛乘 [pi zhi fu cheng]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, will immediately understand the Dharma of the Pratyekabuddhayāna (辟支佛法 [pi zhi fu fa]); some who cultivate the unsurpassed Mahāyāna (无上大乘 [wu shang da cheng]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, will immediately understand the Mahāyāna Dharma (大乘之法 [da cheng zhi fa]) purely and without defilement. If there are those who cultivate the Dharma conducive to Bodhi (助菩提法 [zhu pu ti fa]) and desire Bodhi (菩提 [pu ti]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately be able to renounce wealth and practice generosity (布施 [bu shi]). If there are sentient beings who are devoid of virtues and seek happiness in heavens (天上 [tian shang]) and among humans (人中 [ren zhong]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately uphold precepts (持戒 [chi jie]). If there are sentient beings who mutually fear each other and have hearts of love and hatred, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately develop feelings of closeness and affection for each other. If there are sentient beings who delight in killing, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately develop compassion (悲心 [bei xin]). If there are sentient beings whose hearts are constantly covered by stinginess (悭悋 [qian lin]) and jealousy (嫉妬 [ji du]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately cultivate joy (喜心 [xi xin]). If there are sentient beings who are upright and free from illness, but are attached to form and their minds are unrestrained, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately develop a mind of equanimity (捨心 [she xin]). If there are sentient beings whose lust is blazing and their minds are unrestrained, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately contemplate impurity (不淨 [bu jing]). If there are sentient beings who study the Mahāyāna (大乘者 [da cheng zhe]) and are covered by restlessness, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Dharma of mindfulness of the body (身念處法 [shen nian chu fa]). If there are sentient beings who constantly praise themselves, are capable of great debate (大論議 [da lun yi]), and whose wisdom (智慧 [zhi hui]) is as bright as lightning (抴电 [ye dian]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately understand the profound Twelve Nidānas (十二因緣 [shi er yin yuan]). If there are sentient beings who have little learning and limited vision, but claim to be capable debaters, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain dhāraṇīs (陀罗尼 [tuo luo ni]) that are neither seized nor lost. If there are sentient beings who have entered the mountain of wrong views (邪見山 [xie jian shan]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately understand the profound Gate of Emptiness (空門 [kong men]) of all dharmas (诸法 [zhu fa]). If there are sentient beings whose hearts are covered by defilements, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately deeply understand the Dharma gate of non-form (無相法門 [wu xiang fa men]). If there are sentient beings whose hearts are covered by impure vows, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately deeply understand the Dharma gate of non-action (無作法門 [wu zuo fa men]). If there are sentient beings whose minds are impure, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, their minds will become pure. If there are sentient beings whose minds are covered by many conditions, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will understand the Dharma of not losing the Bodhi mind (菩提心法 [pu ti xin fa]). If there are sentient beings whose hearts are covered by anger (瞋恚 [chen hui]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will understand the true mark (真實相 [zhen shi xiang]) and receive prophecies (受記莂 [shou ji bie]). If there are sentient beings whose hearts are covered by attachment, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will deeply understand that all dharmas (诸法 [zhu fa]) are without attachment (無所依猗 [wu suo yi yi]). If there are sentient beings whose hearts are covered by defilement of love, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will quickly understand that all dharmas (诸法 [zhu fa]) are pure and undefiled (無垢清淨 [wu gou qing jing]). If there are sentient beings who have forgotten their good mind (善心 [shan xin]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will deeply understand the Sunlight Samādhi (日光三昧 [ri guang san mei]). If there are sentient beings who practice demonic deeds, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will quickly understand the pure Dharma (清淨之法 [qing jing zhi fa]). If there are sentient beings whose hearts are covered by perverse theories, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately deeply understand the increasing pure Dharma (增益正法 [zeng yi zheng fa]). If there are sentient beings whose hearts are covered by afflictions, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately understand the Dharma of liberation from afflictions (離煩惱法 [li fan nao fa]). If there are sentient beings who walk in all evil paths, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately turn back. If there are sentient beings who praise and speak evil Dharma (邪法 [xie fa]) in the Mahāyāna (大乘法 [da cheng fa]) and consider it auspicious and wonderful, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately develop a retreating mind towards evil Dharma (邪法 [xie fa]) and attain proper understanding. If there are Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]) who are weary of transmigration (生死 [sheng si]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately develop love and joy towards transmigration (生死 [sheng si]). If there are sentient beings who do not know the good grounds, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately awaken to the Dharma of good grounds (善地之法 [shan de zhi fa]). If there are sentient beings who do not rejoice in the good deeds of others but instead harbor jealousy (妬嫉 [du ji]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately develop a joyful mind. If there are sentient beings whose minds are in conflict with each other, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain unimpeded light (無閡光明 [wu ai guang ming]). If there are sentient beings who commit evil deeds, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will deeply understand the karmic retribution (果報 [guo bao]) of evil deeds. If there are sentient beings who fear great crowds, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will deeply understand the Lion-like Samādhi (師子相三昧 [shi zi xiang san mei]). If there are sentient beings whose hearts are covered by the four Māras (四魔 [si mo]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will quickly attain the Śūraṅgama Samādhi (首楞嚴三昧 [shou leng yan san mei]). If there are sentient beings who do not see the light of Buddha lands (佛國土 [fu guo tu]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately deeply understand the Samādhi of various adornments of light (種種莊嚴光明三昧 [zhong zhong zhuang yan guang ming san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have minds of hatred and love, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately develop a mind of equanimity (捨心 [she xin]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet attained the light of Buddha-Dharma (佛法光明 [fu fa guang ming]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Dharma Banner Samādhi (法幢三昧 [fa chuang san mei]). If there are sentient beings who are far from great wisdom (大智慧 [da zhi hui]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Dharma Torch Samādhi (法炬三昧 [fa ju san mei]). If there are sentient beings whose hearts are covered by ignorance (癡闇 [chi an]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Sun Lamp Light Samādhi (日燈光明三昧 [ri deng guang ming san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have no eloquence (辯才 [bian cai]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain various merits (功德 [gong de]) and appropriate eloquence (應辯 [ying bian]). If there are sentient beings who contemplate the aggregation of forms as impermanent, like water foam, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Nārāyaṇa Samādhi (那羅延三昧 [na luo yan san mei]). If there are sentient beings whose minds are confused and unsettled, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Firm and Decisive Samādhi (堅牢決定三昧 [jian lao jue ding san mei]). If there are sentient beings who wish to contemplate the Buddha's crown, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Sumeru Banner Samādhi (須彌幢三昧 [xu mi chuang san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have abandoned their original vows, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Firm Samādhi (堅牢三昧 [jian lao san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have lost their supernormal powers, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Vajra Samādhi (金剛三昧 [jin gang san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have doubts about the Bodhi-maṇḍa (菩提場 [pu ti chang]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately realize the Vajra Bodhi-maṇḍa (金剛道場 [jin gang dao chang]). If there are sentient beings who have no厌离心 [yan li xin] towards all dharmas (一切法 [yi qie fa]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Vajra Samādhi (金剛三昧 [jin gang san mei]). If there are sentient beings who do not know the minds of others, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately know the minds of others. If there are sentient beings who do not know the sharpness or dullness of faculties, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately know the sharpness or dullness. If there are sentient beings of various kinds who cannot understand each other's speech, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately understand the Samādhi of Sounds (音聲三昧 [yin sheng san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet attained the Dharma-body (法身 [fa shen]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately understand the discrimination of various bodies (分別諸身 [fen bie zhu shen]). If there are sentient beings who do not see the Buddha-body (佛身 [fu shen]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Samādhi of Non-blink (不眴三昧 [bu xuan san mei]). If there are sentient beings who discriminate various conditions, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Samādhi of Non-contention (無諍三昧 [wu zheng san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have doubts about the turning of the Dharma-wheel (轉法輪 [zhuan fa lun]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, their minds will become pure regarding the turning of the Dharma-wheel (轉法輪 [zhuan fa lun]). If there are sentient beings who engage in causeless wrong actions, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Dharma-light that accords with conditions. If there are sentient beings who hold the view of permanence in one Buddha-world, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately be able to skillfully distinguish countless Buddha-lands (無量佛土 [wu liang fu tu]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet planted the roots of various auspicious marks, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Samādhi of various adornments (種種莊嚴三昧 [zhong zhong zhuang yan san mei]). If there are sentient beings who cannot skillfully distinguish all languages, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately understand the Samādhi of discriminating various sounds (分別種種言音三昧 [fen bie zhong zhong yan yin san mei]). If there are sentient beings who single-mindedly seek all wisdom (一切智慧 [yi qie zhi hui]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Samādhi of the undistinguished Dharma-realm (無所分別法界三昧 [wu suo fen bie fa jie san mei]). If there are sentient beings who regress from the Dharma, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Firm Samādhi (堅固三昧 [jian gu san mei]). If there are sentient beings who do not know the Dharma-realm (法界 [fa jie]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain great wisdom (大智慧 [da zhi hui]). If there are sentient beings who deviate from their original vows, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Samādhi of not losing mindfulness (不失三昧 [bu shi san mei]). If there are sentient beings who discriminate various paths, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the one path without discrimination. If there are sentient beings who seek wisdom (智慧 [zhi hui]) and wish to be like emptiness (虛空 [xu kong]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Samādhi of nothingness (無所有三昧 [wu suo you san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet fully attained the Pāramitās (波羅蜜 [bo luo mi]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately dwell in pure Pāramitās (淨波羅蜜 [jing bo luo mi]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet fully attained the four embracing dharmas, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the excellent Samādhi of embracing (妙善攝取三昧 [miao shan she qu san mei]). If there are sentient beings who discriminate the four immeasurable minds, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain equanimous diligent effort (平等勤心精進 [ping deng qin xin jing jin]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet fully attained the thirty-seven Dharma-doors conducive to Bodhi (三十七助菩提法 [san shi qi zhu pu ti fa]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately dwell in the Samādhi of non-emergence from the world (不出世三昧 [bu chu shi san mei]). If there are sentient beings whose minds have lost mindfulness and good wisdom (善智慧 [shan zhi hui]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Ocean Wisdom Seal Samādhi (大海智印三昧 [da hai zhi yin san mei]). If there are sentient beings whose minds are doubtful and have not yet developed Dharma-patience (法忍 [fa ren]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Decisive Samādhi (決定三昧 [jue ding san mei]) of all dharmas (诸法 [zhu fa]), due to the single Dharma mark. If there are sentient beings who forget the Dharma they have heard, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Samādhi of unfailing mindfulness (不失念三昧 [bu shi nian san mei]). If there are sentient beings who speak different Dharmas and do not enjoy each other, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain pure wisdom eye (清淨慧眼 [qing jing hui yan]) without doubt or delusion. If there are sentient beings who do not generate faith in the Three Jewels (三寶 [san bao]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Samādhi of increasing merits (功德增長三昧 [gong de zeng zhang san mei]). If there are sentient beings who thirst for the Dharma rain (法雨 [fa yu]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Dharma Rain Samādhi (法雨三昧 [fa yu san mei]). If there are sentient beings who hold the view of annihilation in the Three Jewels (三寶 [san bao]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Samādhi of adorning the Three Jewels (諸寶莊嚴三昧 [zhu bao zhuang yan san mei]). If there are sentient beings who do not perform wisdom-karma and are not diligent, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Vajra Wisdom Samādhi (金剛智慧三昧 [jin gang zhi hui san mei]). If there are sentient beings who are bound by various afflictions (煩惱 [fan nao]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Emptiness Seal Samādhi (虛空印三昧 [xu kong yin san mei]). If there are sentient beings who cling to self and mine, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Wisdom Seal Samādhi (智印三昧 [zhi yin san mei]). If there are sentient beings who do not know the complete merits (功德 [gong de]) of the Tathāgata (如来 [ru lai]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the worldly liberation samādhi (世間解脫三昧 [shi jian jie tuo san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have not made offerings to Buddhas (佛 [fu]) in past lives, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain various miraculous transformations (神足變化 [shen zu bian hua]). If there are sentient beings who have not been able to speak about the single Dharma-realm gate (一法界門 [yi fa jie men]) in countless kalpas (無量劫 [wu liang jie]) in the future, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately understand and explain that all dharmas (一切諸法 [yi qie zhu fa]) are of the same Dharma-realm (同一法界 [tong yi fa jie]). If there are sentient beings who have not been able to choose among all sūtras, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Samādhi of the equal true mark of all dharmas (諸法平等實相三昧 [zhu fa ping deng shi xiang san mei]). If there are sentient beings who are separated from the six harmonious dharmas, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately understand the Samādhi of all dharmas (諸法三昧 [zhu fa san mei]). If there are sentient beings who are not diligent in the inconceivable liberation Dharma gate, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Lion's Play Samādhi (師子遊戲三昧 [shi zi you xi san mei]) among all supernormal powers. If there are sentient beings who wish to differentiate and enter the Tathāgatagarbha (如来藏 [ru lai cang]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will no longer hear from others, but will immediately be able to differentiate and enter the Tathāgatagarbha (如来藏 [ru lai cang]). If there are sentient beings who are not diligent in the Bodhisattva path (菩薩道 [pu sa dao]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain wisdom (智慧 [zhi hui]) and diligently exert themselves. If there are sentient beings who have never seen the Jātaka stories, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Samādhi of being everywhere. If there are sentient beings whose path is not yet completed, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Prophecy Samādhi (受記三昧 [shou ji san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet fully attained the ten powers of the Tathāgata (如来十力 [ru lai shi li]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Indestructible Samādhi (無壞三昧 [wu huai san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet fully attained the four fearlessnesses, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Unexhausted Wisdom Samādhi (無盡意三昧 [wu jin yi san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet fully attained the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) uncommon Dharma, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Uncommon Dharma Samādhi (不共法三昧 [bu gong fa san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet fully attained the view of non-ignorance, upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Vow Phrase Samādhi (願句三昧 [yuan ju san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet awakened to all Dharma gates of the Buddha (佛法之門 [fu fa zhi men]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Pure White Immaculate Seal Samādhi (鮮白無垢淨印三昧 [xian bai wu gou jing yin san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet fully attained omniscience (一切智者 [yi qie zhi zhe]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Skillful Understanding Samādhi (善了三昧 [shan le san mei]). If there are sentient beings who have not yet accomplished all Buddha-deeds (佛事 [fu shi]), upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they will immediately attain the Immeasurable Unexhausted Wisdom Samādhi (無量不盡意三昧 [wu liang bu jin yi san mei]). Such sentient beings will each attain faith and understanding in the Buddha Dharma (佛法 [fu fa]).

"'There are Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]) whose minds are upright and without flattery. Upon hearing the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, they immediately attain eighty-four thousand Dharma gates (諸法門 [zhu fa men]), eighty-four thousand Samādhi gates (諸三昧門 [zhu san mei men]), and seventy-five thousand Dhāraṇī gates (陀羅尼門 [tuo luo ni men]). There are countless, boundless Asaṃkhyeya (阿僧祇 [a seng qi]) Bodhisattva-mahāsattvas (菩薩摩訶薩 [pu sa mo he sa]) who cultivate the Mahāyāna (大乘者 [da cheng zhe]). Upon hearing this teaching, they also attain such immeasurable merits (無量功德 [wu liang gong de]) and abide in the stage of non-retrogression (不退轉地 [bu tui zhuan de]). Therefore, Bodhisattva-mahāsattvas (菩薩摩訶薩 [pu sa mo he sa]), desiring various firm adornments, make inconceivable vows and enhance inconceivable knowledge and insight to adorn themselves. By adorning themselves with the thirty-two marks, they attain the eighty subsidiary characteristics. By adorning themselves with a wondrous voice, they teach the Dharma according to the wishes of all sentient beings, enabling those who hear the Dharma to achieve full knowledge and insight. By adorning themselves with the mind, they attain various samādhis and do not regress. By adorning themselves with mindfulness, they do not lose any dhāraṇīs. By adorning themselves with the mind, they can distinguish all dharmas. By adorning themselves with mindfulness, they can understand the meaning of minute dust particles. By adorning themselves with a good mind, they attain firm vows and strong diligence, reaching the other shore as they wished. By adorning themselves with focused minds, they progressively transcend stages. By adorning themselves with generosity, they can renounce all necessities. By adorning themselves with upholding precepts, they purify their minds, making them spotless and undefiled. By adorning themselves with patience, they have no obstacles in their minds towards all sentient beings. By adorning themselves with diligence, they accomplish all assistance. By adorning themselves with meditation, they attain lion’s play in all samādhis. By adorning themselves with wisdom, they know the habits of all afflictions. By adorning themselves with loving-kindness, they single-mindedly recall all sentient beings. By adorning themselves with compassion, they can eradicate the sufferings of sentient beings. By adorning themselves with joy, they have no doubts in their minds about all dharmas. By adorning themselves with equanimity, they are free from arrogance and their minds are neither high nor low. By adorning themselves with various supernormal powers, they attain lion’s play in all dharmas. By adorning themselves with merits, they attain the inexhaustible treasure hand. By adorning themselves with wisdom, they know the minds of all sentient beings. By adorning themselves with intention, they skillfully awaken all sentient beings. By adorning themselves with light, they attain clear wisdom eye. By adorning themselves with various eloquences, they enable sentient beings to attain the appropriate words of Dharma meaning. By adorning themselves with fearlessness, no Māras can hinder them. By adorning themselves with merits, they attain the merits of all Buddhas and World-Honored Ones. By adorning themselves with Dharma, they attain unimpeded eloquence and constantly expound the wondrous Dharma for sentient beings. By adorning themselves with light, they attain the light of all Buddha Dharma. By adorning themselves with illumination, they can illuminate all Buddha worlds. By adorning themselves with the minds of others, they attain correct wisdom without confusion. By adorning themselves with instruction and admonition, they uphold the precepts as taught. By adorning themselves with supernormal powers, they attain wish-fulfilling feet and reach the other shore. By adorning themselves with upholding all Tathāgatas’ adornments, they enter the immeasurable Dharma treasury of the Tathāgata. By adorning themselves with revering the Dharma, they attain wisdom that does not depend on others. By adorning themselves with practicing all good dharmas, they act as they speak, wishing that all such sentient beings may attain such merits and benefits. If there are countless, boundless Asaṃkhyeya (阿僧祇 [a seng qi]) Bodhisattva-mahāsattvas (菩薩摩訶薩 [pu sa mo he sa]) who cultivate the Mahāyāna (大乘 [da cheng]), by my speaking a single Dharma phrase, they will all be fully endowed with such pure good dharmas and will be completely satisfied. Therefore, the wisdom that Bodhisattva-mahāsattvas (菩薩摩訶薩 [pu sa mo he sa]) attain in all dharmas does not come from hearing from others, but they achieve great Dharma light and attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]).

If sentient beings in other worlds commit the five heinous crimes (五逆罪 [wu ni zui]), and even violate the four grave prohibitions, burning away good dharmas, but cultivate Śrāvakayāna (声闻乘 [sheng wen cheng]), Pratyekabuddhayāna (緣覺 [yuan jue]), or Mahāyāna (大乘 [da cheng]), and by the power of their vows wish to be born in my world, once they are born, they still engage in all unwholesome karma (不善業 [bu shan ye]), rough, crude, and evil, with minds that delight in stubbornness and are difficult to subdue, exclusively clinging to the four inversions, greedily attached and stingy. For such sentient beings, whose minds are disturbed by eighty-four thousand different natures, I shall expound eighty-four thousand Dharma aggregates, each according to their different natures.

After my Nirvāṇa (涅槃 [nie pan]), if there are sentient beings in my Dharma who can uphold even one precept as I have taught, and even recite one four-line verse for others, causing the listeners to rejoice, and make offerings to the Dharma teacher, even with one flower or one prostration, by these causes and conditions, according to their aspirations, they will not regress from the three vehicles, even until the Dharma torch is extinguished and the Dharma banner (法幢 [fa chuang]) falls. When the Right Dharma (正法 [zheng fa]) is extinguished, my relics will immediately sink into the earth, reaching the diamond ground. At that time, the Saha world (娑婆世界 [suo po shi jie]) will be empty of precious treasures. After I achieved Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]), those whom I encouraged to generate the Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi mind (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti xin]) and established in the Six Pāramitās (六波羅蜜 [liu bo luo mi]), and those sentient beings transformed by the transformations of my relics after my Nirvāṇa (涅槃 [nie pan]) and inspired to generate the Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi mind (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti xin]), these sentient beings, after countless Asaṃkhyeya (阿僧祇 [a seng qi]) kalpas (劫 [jie]) like a thousand Ganges sands, will achieve Buddhahood (成佛出世 [cheng fu chu shi]) in countless boundless Asaṃkhyeya (阿僧祇 [a seng qi]) worlds in the ten directions. They will all praise my name and say: "In the distant past, there was an eon called Bhadra (賢 [xian]), and at the beginning of that eon, the Fourth World-Honored One was named so-and-so. That Buddha, the World-Honored One (彼佛世尊 [bi fu shi zun]), encouraged us to first generate the Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi mind (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti xin]). At that time, we had burned away our good minds, accumulated unwholesome roots, committed the five heinous crimes (五逆罪 [wu ni zui]), and even held wrong views. At that time, that Buddha (彼佛 [bi fu]) encouraged us to abide in the Six Pāramitās (六波羅蜜 [liu bo luo mi]), and because of this, we understood all Dhāraṇī gates (陀羅尼門 [tuo luo ni men]), turned the wheel of the True Dharma (正法 [zheng fa]), became free from the bonds of transmigration (生死縛 [sheng si fu]), enabled countless hundreds of thousands of sentient beings to abide in superior fruits, and enabled countless hundreds of thousands of sentient beings to abide in the heavens (天人 [tian ren]) and even the fruit of liberation." If there are sentient beings who seek the path to Bodhi (菩提道 [pu ti dao]) and hear my praise, they will each ask the Buddha (佛 [fu]): "What benefit did that Buddha, the World-Honored One (彼佛世尊 [bi fu shi zun]), see to achieve Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]) in that heavily defiled evil age of five defilements (重五濁惡世 [zhong wu zhuo e shi])?" These World-Honored Ones will then tell these good men and good women seeking the path to Bodhi (菩提道 [pu ti dao]) about the great compassion (大悲 [da bei]) I cultivated in the past, my initial generation of the Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi mind (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti xin]), the adornment of my world, and the original causes and conditions of my wondrous and excellent vows. Upon hearing this, these people will be astonished and exclaim that it is unprecedented. They will immediately make wonderful vows, generating great compassion (大悲心 [da bei xin]) for all sentient beings, just like me, and make this vow: "In such a heavily defiled world of five defilements (重五濁世 [zhong wu zhuo shi]), among sentient beings who commit the five heinous crimes (五逆罪 [wu ni zui]) and even achieve all unwholesome roots, I shall subdue them." These World-Honored Ones, seeing that these people have achieved great compassion (大悲 [da bei]) and made good vows in the age of five defilements, will bestow prophecies upon them according to their wishes.

Those Buddhas, the World-Honored Ones (彼佛世尊 [bi fu shi zun]), will also expound to those who cultivate the Mahāyāna (大乘諸人 [da cheng zhu ren]) the original causes and conditions of my relics' transformations: "In the distant past, there was a Buddha, the World-Honored One, named so-and-so. After his Nirvāṇa (般涅槃 [ban nie pan]), kalpas of warfare, disease, and hunger arose, and we suffered various afflictions in those kalpas. That Buddha's relics performed various miraculous lion's play for our sake. Therefore, we generated the Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi mind (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti xin]), planted various good roots, diligently cultivated the Six Pāramitās (六波羅蜜 [liu bo luo mi]), as extensively described above."'"

The Buddha (佛 [fu]) told Jìyì Bodhisattva (寂意菩薩 [ji yi pu sa]): "Good man! At that time, Treasure Ocean Brahmin (寶海梵志 [bao hai fan zhi]), in the presence of Treasure Store Buddha (寶藏佛 [bao cang fu]) and the assembly of devas (諸天大眾 [zhu tian da zhong]), humans, and non-humans, immediately achieved a great and immeasurable mind of compassion (大悲之心 [da bei zhi xin]). After making five hundred vows, he again spoke to the Buddha (佛 [fu]), saying: 'World-Honored One! If my vows are not fulfilled and I do not obtain my own benefit, then I will not appear as a Buddha (佛 [fu]) in the future Bhadrakalpa (賢劫 [xian jie]), in the heavily defiled evil age of five defilements (重五濁惡 [zhong wu zhuo e]), amidst mutual strife and contention, in the blind and ignorant latter age, without a teacher or guidance, fallen into various wrong views, in great darkness, committing the five heinous crimes (五逆惡 [wu ni e]) as mentioned above, and fulfilling my vows by performing Buddha-deeds (佛事 [fu shi]). I will now renounce the Bodhi mind (菩提之心 [pu ti zhi xin]) and will not wish to plant good roots in other Buddha lands. World-Honored One! With such single-mindedness, I do not wish to achieve Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]) through these good roots, nor do I wish to seek the Pratyekabuddhayāna (辟支佛乘 [pi zhi fu cheng]), nor do I wish to become a Śrāvakayāna (声闻乘 [sheng wen cheng]) practitioner, a heavenly king, or a human king, greedily indulging in the five desires and being born among devas (天人 [tian ren]). I do not seek to be a Gandharva (乾闥婆 [gan ta po]), Asura (阿修羅 [a xiu luo]), Garuḍa (迦樓羅 [jia lou luo]), Kinnara (緊那羅 [jin na luo]), Mahoraga (摩睺羅伽 [mo hou luo jia]), Yakṣa (夜叉 [ye cha]), Rākṣasa (羅剎 [luo sha]), or Dragon King (諸龍王等 [zhu long wang deng]). I do not seek such states with these good roots. World-Honored One! If I obtain great wealth, it is due to generosity as the cause. If I am born in heaven, it is due to upholding precepts as the cause. If I obtain great wisdom (大智 [da zhi]), it is due to extensive learning as the cause. If I sever afflictions (煩惱 [fan nao]), it is due to contemplation as the cause. As the Buddha (佛 [fu]) said: "Such matters are all for the benefit of meritorious individuals, who can obtain whatever they seek." World-Honored One! If my good roots are fulfilled and I attain my own benefit, then all my generosity (布施 [bu shi]), upholding precepts (持戒 [chi jie]), extensive learning, and contemplation shall be accomplished. All these retributions shall be for all sentient beings in hell. If there are sentient beings who fall into the Avīci Hell (阿鼻地獄 [a bi de yu]), by these good roots, I shall deliver them, enable them to be born among humans, hear the Buddha’s (佛 [fu]) teaching, immediately attain understanding, achieve Arhatship (阿羅漢 [a luo han]), and quickly enter Nirvāṇa (涅槃 [nie pan]). If the karmic retribution of these sentient beings is not exhausted, I shall renounce my lifespan and enter the Avīci Hell (阿鼻獄 [a bi yu]) to suffer on their behalf. I vow that my body be as numerous as the dust particles in one Buddha world, and each body be as large as Mount Sumeru (須彌山 [xu mi shan]). Each of these bodies shall experience all sufferings and joys as my present body experiences them. Each body shall endure various severe and evil sufferings, as numerous as the dust particles in one Buddha world. All sentient beings in the ten directions of Buddha worlds, as numerous as the dust particles in one Buddha world, who commit the five heinous crimes (五逆惡 [wu ni e]) and unwholesome karma (不善業 [bu shan ye]), and are about to fall into the Avīci Hell (阿鼻地獄 [a bi de yu]); or after kalpas (大劫 [da jie]) as numerous as the dust particles in one Buddha world, all sentient beings in the ten directions of Buddha worlds, as numerous as the dust particles, who commit the five heinous crimes (五逆惡 [wu ni e]) and unwholesome karma (不善業 [bu shan ye]), and are about to fall into the Avīci Hell (阿鼻地獄 [a bi de yu]) – I shall suffer all pains in the Avīci Hell (阿鼻地獄 [a bi de yu]) on behalf of all these sentient beings, so that they do not fall into hell, but encounter Buddhas (諸佛 [zhu fu]), receive the wondrous Dharma (妙法 [miao fa]), emerge from transmigration (生死 [sheng si]), and enter the city of Nirvāṇa (涅槃城 [nie pan cheng]). I must now suffer on behalf of these sentient beings and long remain in the Avīci Hell (阿鼻地獄 [a bi de yu]). Furthermore, all sentient beings in the ten directions, as numerous as the dust particles in one Buddha world, whose evil karma is complete and will surely receive retribution, falling into the hell of burning fire, such as the Avīci Hell (阿鼻地獄 [a bi de yu]), the hell of burning, the Mahāraurava Hell (摩訶盧獦地獄 [mo he lu ge de yu]), the hell of pressing, the hell of black ropes, the hell of imagination, and various animals, hungry ghosts (餓鬼 [e gui]), the poor, Yakṣas (夜叉 [ye cha]), Kumbhāṇḍas (拘槃 [ju pan]), Piśācas (茶毘 [cha pi]), Rākṣasas (舍遮 [she zhe]), Asuras (阿修羅 [a xiu luo]), Garuḍas (迦樓羅 [jia lou luo]), and so on, shall also be like this.

Furthermore, if there are sentient beings who fall into the Avīci Hell (阿鼻地獄 [a bi de yu]) and suffer various torments, I shall long suffer these torments on behalf of these sentient beings, just as sentient beings in transmigration suffer from aggregates (陰 [yin]), elements (界 [jie]), entrances (入 [ru]), animals, hungry ghosts (餓鬼 [e gui]), the poor, Yakṣas (夜叉 [ye cha]), Kumbhāṇḍas (拘辦 [ju ban]), Piśācas (茶毘 [cha pi]), Rākṣasas (舍遮 [she zhe]), Asuras (阿修羅 [a xiu luo]), Garuḍas (迦樓羅 [jia lou luo]), and so on, all shall be like this.

World-Honored One! Excellent! Your great compassion (大悲 [da bei]) is unsurpassed! You have attained profound mindfulness, generating such profound compassion for all sentient beings, and making firm vows. What you have done now is not taught by others. With single-minded great compassion (大悲 [da bei]), you protect all, embracing those who commit the five heinous crimes (五逆 [wu ni]) and all unwholesome deeds. We now know all your good vows. When you first generated the Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi mind (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti xin]), you were already a great medicine for sentient beings, a refuge, a protector, a dwelling, making this vow to enable sentient beings to attain liberation. [0214b22] "{6} Universal Recognition and Prophecy"

The Buddha (佛 [fu]) told Jìyì Bodhisattva (寂意菩薩 [ji yi pu sa]): "Good man! At that time, Treasure Ocean Brahmin (寶海梵志 [bao hai fan zhi]) knelt on his right knee before the Tathāgata (如來 [ru lai]). At that moment, the great earth quaked in six ways, and all Buddha worlds (諸佛世界 [zhu fu shi jie]) in the ten directions, as numerous as dust particles in one Buddha world, also quaked in six ways. A great light permeated the world, raining down various flowers: Maṇḍārava flowers (曼陀羅華 [man tuo luo hua]), Mahāmaṇḍārava flowers (摩訶曼陀羅華 [mo he man tuo luo hua]), Pāricchattaka flowers (波利質多華 [bo li zhi duo hua]), Mañjuṣaka flowers (曼殊沙華 [man shu sha hua]), Mahāmañjuṣaka flowers (摩訶曼 [mo he man]ju沙華 [sha hua]), and even countless lights permeated the ten directions, in pure and impure worlds as numerous as dust particles in one Buddha world, everywhere, the Buddhas (諸佛 [zhu fu]) presently expound the True Dharma (正法 [zheng fa]) for sentient beings. In each of these Buddha's (佛 [fu]) places, there were Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]) sitting and listening to the Dharma. These Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]) saw the great earth quake in six ways, radiating great light, and raining down various flowers. Seeing this, they approached the Buddha (佛 [fu]) and asked: 'World-Honored One! What is the cause and condition for this great earth to quake in six ways, radiate great light, and rain down various flowers?'

[0214c04] At that time, in the East, at a distance of one Ganges sand's worth of Buddha worlds (恒河沙等 [heng he sha deng]), there was a Buddha world (佛世界 [fu shi jie]) called Selection of Treasures. In it, there was a Buddha (佛 [fu]) named Jewel Moon Tathāgata (寶月如來 [bao yue ru lai]), Arhat (應 [ying]), Perfectly Enlightened One (正遍知 [zheng bian zhi]), Endowed with Knowledge and Conduct (明行足 [ming xing zu]), Well-Gone (善逝 [shan shi]), Knower of the World (世間解 [shi jian jie]), Unsurpassed One (无上士 [wu shang shi]), Tamer of Men (調御丈夫 [diao yu zhang fu]), Teacher of gods and humans (天人師 [tian ren shi]), Buddha (佛 [fu]), World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun]), who is now present, surrounded by countless boundless Asaṃkhyeya (阿僧祇 [a seng qi]) great Bodhisattvas (諸大菩薩 [zhu da pu sa]), respectfully expounding the Mahāyāna Dharma (大乘法 [da cheng fa]). There were two Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]), one named Jewel Mark (寶相 [bao xiang]) and the other Moon Mark (月相 [yue xiang]). They clasped their hands respectfully towards Jewel Moon Buddha (寶月佛 [bao yue fu]) and said to the Buddha (佛 [fu]): 'World-Honored One! What is the cause and condition for the sixfold earthquake, the great light, and the raining down of various flowers?' At that time, that Buddha (彼佛 [bi fu]) told the two Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]): 'Good men! In the West, at a distance of one Ganges sand's worth, there is a world called Saṃtira (刪提嵐 [shan ti lan]). There is a Buddha (佛 [fu]), the World-Honored One, named Treasure Store Tathāgata (寶藏如來 [bao cang ru lai]), and so on, even Buddha (佛 [fu]), World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun]), who is now present, along with countless boundless Bodhisattvas (諸菩薩 [zhu pu sa]), bestowing the prophecy of Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提記 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti ji]), speaking about various lands, revealing the adornment of all Buddha worlds (諸佛世界 [zhu fu shi jie]), the excellent vows, samādhi (三昧 [san mei]) states, and dhāraṇī (陀羅尼 [tuo luo ni]) gates, and other such sūtras. In that great assembly, there is a great compassionate Bodhisattva-mahāsattva (大悲菩薩摩訶薩 [da bei pu sa mo he sa]) who has made this vow: "I shall now imbue my heart with great compassion (大悲 [da bei]), bestow the prophecy of Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提記 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti ji]), and manifest excellent vows for the sake of Bodhisattva-mahāsattvas (菩薩摩訶薩 [pu sa mo he sa])." Therefore, he first caused countless boundless Bodhisattvas (諸菩薩 [zhu pu sa]) to generate great vows, acquiring various adorned worlds and subduing sentient beings. The great compassion (大悲 [da bei]) achieved by this Bodhisattva (菩薩 [pu sa]) is unsurpassed in all great assemblies. In the age of five defilements (五濁世 [wu zhuo shi]), he subdues the evil and those with many afflictions (煩惱 [fan nao]), embracing all those who commit the five heinous crimes (五逆之人 [wu ni zhi ren]), and even those who have accumulated all unwholesome roots and burned away their good minds. That great assembly of devas (天龍 [tian long]), ghosts (鬼神 [gui shen]), humans, and non-humans, who do not make offerings to the Buddha (佛 [fu]), all make offerings to the ultimate great compassionate Bodhisattva (大悲菩薩 [da bei pu sa]). Having prostrated with their heads bowed, they stand up, respectfully clasp their hands, and praise him in verse. At that time, the great compassionate Bodhisattva (大悲菩薩 [da bei pu sa]) was before the Buddha (佛 [fu]), kneeling on his right knee, listening to the Buddha (佛 [fu]) bestow the prophecy. That Buddha, the World-Honored One (彼佛世尊 [bi fu shi zun]), then smiled, and by this cause and condition, the earth of all worlds in the ten directions, as numerous as dust particles in one Buddha world, quaked in six ways, radiating great light, and raining down various flowers, awakening all Bodhisattvas (諸菩薩 [zhu pu sa]) and also manifesting the Bodhisattva path (菩薩道 [pu sa dao]). That Buddha, the World-Honored One (彼佛世尊 [bi fu shi zun]), caused all Bodhisattvas (諸菩薩 [zhu pu sa]) in the ten directions, as numerous as dust particles in one Buddha world, to gather together. For these great Bodhisattvas (諸大菩薩 [zhu da pu sa]), he expounded various samādhi (三昧 [san mei]) and dhāraṇī (陀羅尼 [tuo luo ni]) gates, and fearless Dharma gates. Therefore, that Buddha (彼佛 [bi fu]) manifested such various transformations.'

[0214c04] 「爾時,東方去此一恒河沙等,有佛世界名選擇珍寶,是中有佛號寶月如來、應、正遍知、明行足、善逝、世間解、無上士、調御丈夫、天人師、佛、世尊,今現在與無量無邊阿僧祇等諸大菩薩,恭敬圍繞說大乘法。有二菩薩,一名寶相,二名月相,向寶月佛,合掌恭敬而白佛言:『世尊!何因緣故,六種震動,有大光明,雨種種華?』爾時,彼佛告二菩薩:『善男子!西方去此如一恒河沙等,彼有世界名刪提嵐,有佛世尊號曰寶藏如來,乃至佛世尊,今現在與無量無邊諸菩薩等,授阿耨多羅三藐三菩提記,說諸國土,開示諸佛所有世界莊嚴善願三昧境界陀羅尼門如是等經。彼大會中有一大悲菩薩摩訶薩,作如是願:「我今當以大悲熏心,授阿耨多羅三藐三菩提記,為諸菩薩摩訶薩故示現善願。」是以先令無量無邊諸菩薩等發大誓願,取於種種莊嚴世界調伏眾生,是菩薩所成大悲,於諸大眾無能及者,於五濁世調伏弊惡多煩惱者,攝取一切五逆之人,乃至集聚諸不善根,燒滅善心,彼諸大眾天龍、鬼神、人及非人,不供養佛,悉共供養,最後成就大悲菩薩。頭面禮已,起立,恭敬合掌說偈讚歎。是時大悲菩薩在於佛前,右膝著地聽佛授記,彼佛世尊即便微笑,以是因緣令此十方如一佛剎微塵數等諸世界地,六種震動,放大光明,雨種種華,惺悟一切諸菩薩等,亦復示現諸菩薩道。彼佛世尊悉令十方如一佛剎微塵數等諸菩薩皆共集會,為如是等諸大菩薩,說諸三昧陀羅尼門、無畏法門,是故彼佛示現如是種種變化。』

When will he subdue and embrace in the evil age of five defilements (五濁惡世 [wu zhuo e shi]) those with heavy afflictions (煩惱 [fan nao]), who mutually strive and contend, who commit many five heinous crimes (五逆 [wu ni]), and who have achieved all unwholesome roots and burned away their good minds, such sentient beings?' At that time, that Buddha (彼佛 [bi fu]) told the two Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]): 'Good men! This great compassionate Bodhisattva (大悲菩薩 [da bei pu sa]) has just now generated the Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi mind (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提心 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti xin]). Good men! You may now go to see Treasure Store Buddha (寶藏佛 [bao cang fu]), respectfully make offerings, prostrate, and circumambulate, listening to the various samādhi (三昧 [san mei]) and dhāraṇī (陀羅尼 [tuo luo ni]) gates, and fearless Dharma gates, and other such sūtras, and also see the great compassionate Bodhisattva-mahāsattva (大悲菩薩摩訶薩 [da bei pu sa mo he sa]). Convey my words to him, saying: "Jewel Moon Tathāgata (寶月如來 [bao yue ru lai]) sends his regards and bestows this pure flower of moonlight as a token of faith to you. He also praises you, saying: 'Excellent! Excellent! Good man! You have just now generated your initial mind, and you have already been able to achieve such great compassion (大悲 [da bei])! You now have immeasurable fame, pervading all Buddha worlds (諸佛世界 [zhu fu shi jie]) in the ten directions, as numerous as dust particles in one Buddha world, all saying: The great compassionate Bodhisattva (大悲菩薩 [da bei pu sa]) has just now generated his initial mind and has already been able to achieve such great compassion (大悲 [da bei])! Therefore, good man! I now praise you, excellent! Excellent! Furthermore, good man! For the sake of future Bodhisattvas (諸菩薩 [zhu pu sa]), you have expounded this great compassion (大悲 [da bei]) and unceasing good vows, establishing the Dharma banner (法幢 [fa chuang]). Therefore, I praise you again, excellent! Excellent! Furthermore, good man! Your name will endure in future ages for Asaṃkhyeya (阿僧祇 [a seng qi]) kalpas (劫 [jie]) as numerous as dust particles in one Buddha world, teaching hundreds of thousands of billions of countless boundless Asaṃkhyeya (阿僧祇 [a seng qi]) sentient beings, establishing them in Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]), and enabling them to attain non-retrogression in Buddhahood (佛 [fu]). Some will generate good vows, or acquire pure lands, embracing sentient beings and subduing them according to their needs, and enabling them to receive the prophecy of Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提記 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti ji]) in the future. Such sentient beings, in future ages, after kalpas (劫 [jie]) as numerous as dust particles in one Buddha world, will achieve Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]) in countless Buddha worlds (諸佛世界 [zhu fu shi jie]) in the ten directions, as numerous as dust particles in one Buddha world, turn the wheel of the True Dharma (正法 [zheng fa]), and will again praise the great compassionate Bodhisattva (大悲菩薩 [da bei pu sa]). Therefore, I praise you with these three praises, excellent! Excellent!'"'

[0215b12] "At that time, Jewel Mark Bodhisattva (寶相菩薩 [bao xiang pu sa]) and Moon Mark Bodhisattva (月相菩薩 [yue xiang pu sa]), from that Buddha (彼佛 [bi fu]), took the pure flower of moonlight, and together with the ninety-two billion Bodhisattva-mahāsattvas (菩薩摩訶薩 [pu sa mo he sa]), they departed from that world, like flashes of lightning appearing and disappearing, and immediately arrived at Treasure Store Buddha's (寶藏佛 [bao cang fu]) place in the Jambūdvīpa garden (閻浮園 [yan fu yuan]) in the Saṃtira realm (刪提嵐剎 [shan ti lan sha]). Having arrived at the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) place, they prostrated themselves at his feet, and having made offerings to the Buddha (佛 [fu]) with the various lion's play attained by the Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]), they saw Treasure Ocean Brahmin (寶海梵志 [bao hai fan zhi]) being respectfully praised by this great assembly with clasped hands. Seeing this, they immediately thought: 'This great being must be the great compassionate Bodhisattva (大悲菩薩 [da bei pu sa]), which is why Jewel Moon Tathāgata (寶月如來 [bao yue ru lai]) sent this precious flower.' There was a Buddha (佛 [fu]) named Lion Mark Honored King Tathāgata (師子相尊王如來 [shi zi xiang zun wang ru lai]), Arhat (應 [ying]), Perfectly Enlightened One (正遍知 [zheng bian zhi]), Endowed with Knowledge and Conduct (明行足 [ming xing zu]), Well-Gone (善逝 [shan shi]), Knower of the World (世間解 [shi jian jie]), Unsurpassed One (无上士 [wu shang shi]), Tamer of Men (調御丈夫 [diao yu zhang fu]), Teacher of gods and humans (天人師 [tian ren shi]), Buddha (佛 [fu]), World-Honored One (世尊 [shi zun]), who is now present, expounding the Mahāyāna Dharma (大乘法 [da cheng fa]) for Bodhisattvas (諸菩薩 [zhu pu sa]). There were two Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]), one named Sun Honored (日尊 [ri zun]) and the other Sky Sun (虛空日 [xu kong ri]).
