[0196a07] The Buddha (佛 [fu]) told Jìyì Púsà (寂意菩薩 [ji yi pu sa]): "Good man! At that time, Baohai Fànzhì (寶海梵志 [bao hai fan zhi]) again spoke to the tenth prince, Ruǎnxīn (軟心 [ruan xin]), and his aspiration was just like that. The prince's (王子 [wang zi]) vows were all like those of Āchù Púsà (阿閦菩薩 [a chu pu sa]). He said to the Buddha (佛 [fu]): 'Bhagavān (世尊 [shi zun])! If my vows are fulfilled and I achieve benefit, may all sentient beings (一切眾生 [yi qie zhong sheng]) be able to contemplate the realms of the Buddhas (諸佛境界 [zhu fu jing jie]). May chándànxiāng (栴檀香 [zhan tan xiang]) and yōutuódá póluóxiāng (優陀婆羅香 [you tuo po luo xiang]) naturally arise in their hands, and with these fragrances, may they make offerings to the Buddhas (諸佛 [zhu fu]).'

[0196a13] "At that time, Baozang Rúlái (寶藏如來 [bao cang ru lai]) praised the prince (王子 [wang zi]), saying: 'Excellent! Excellent! Good man! Your vows are truly extraordinary. You vow that chándànxiāng (栴檀香 [zhan tan xiang]) and yōutuódá póluóxiāng (優陀婆羅香 [you tuo po luo xiang]) will naturally appear in the hands of sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng]), and that they will all be able to contemplate the realms of the Buddhas (諸佛境界 [zhu fu jing jie]) with pure mindfulness. Because of this, your name is now changed to Xiāngshǒu (香手 [xiang shou]).' The Buddha (佛 [fu]) told Xiāngshǒu (香手 [xiang shou]): 'Good man! In the future, after one Aṣaṃkhyeya Kalpa (阿僧祇劫 [a seng qi jie]) as numerous as the sands of the Ganges (恒河沙等 [heng he sha deng]), and in the latter part of the second Aṣaṃkhyeya Kalpa (阿僧祇劫 [a seng qi jie]), after Āchù Rúlái (阿閦如來 [a chu ru lai]) enters Parinirvāṇa (般涅槃 [ban nie pan]), and after the Right Dharma (正法 [zheng fa]) has been extinguished for seven days, you shall then attain Anuttarā Samyak Saṃbodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]). Your Buddha-world (佛世界 [fu shi jie]) shall still be called Miàoyào (妙樂 [miao le]), and the Buddha (佛 [fu]) shall be named Jīnhuá Rúlái (金華如來 [jin hua ru lai]), Arhat (應 [ying]), Samyak-saṃbuddha (正遍知 [zheng bian zhi]), Vidyācaraṇa-saṃpanna (明行足 [ming xing zu]), Sugata (善逝 [shan shi]), Lokavid (世間解 [shi jian jie]), Anuttara (無上士 [wu shang shi]), Puruṣadamya-sārathi (調御丈夫 [diao yu zhang fu]), Śāstā Devamanuṣyāṇāṃ (天人師 [tian ren shi]), Buddha (佛 [fu]), Bhagavān (世尊 [shi zun]).'

If my vows are fulfilled and I achieve benefit, as I now prostrate before the Buddha (佛 [fu]), this Jambudvīpa (閻浮園 [yan fu yuan]) shall be encircled by a rain of zhānbóhuā (薝蔔華 [zhan bo hua]).' Good man! At that time, Xiāngshǒu Púsà (香手菩薩 [xiang shou pu sa]) prostrated his head to the ground before Baozang Fó (寶藏佛 [bao cang fu]), and at that moment, in the Jambudvīpa (閻浮園 [yan fu yuan]), as he had spoken, zhānbóhuā (M蔔華 [bo hua]) rained down all around.

Good deeds you arise.
As your heart desires,
Zhānbóhuā (薝蔔華 [zhan bo hua]) rains.
Liberating immeasurable
All sentient beings (一切眾生 [yi qie zhong sheng]),
Showing all good paths,
Leading them to fearlessness.'

The prince's (王子 [wang zi]) vows were also like those of Xiāngshǒu Púsà (香手菩薩 [xiang shou pu sa]). At that time, Shīzi Wángzǐ (師子王子 [shi zi wang zi]) offered a banner of precious jewels (珍寶幢 [zhen bao chuang]) to Baozang Rúlái (寶藏如來 [bao cang ru lai]). The Buddha (佛 [fu]) immediately praised Shīzi Wángzǐ (師子王子 [shi zi wang zi]), saying: 'Excellent! Excellent! Good man! Since you now make this offering of a precious banner (寶幢 [bao chuang]), you are hereby named Bǎoxiàng (寶相 [bao xiang]).'

[0196b20] "At that time, Bǎoxiàng Púsà (寶相菩薩 [bao xiang pu sa]) came forward and said to the Buddha (佛 [fu]): 'Bhagavān (世尊 [shi zun])! If my vows are fulfilled and I achieve benefit, I shall now prostrate my head before the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) feet, and may all sentient beings (一切眾生 [yi qie zhong sheng]) attain such mindfulness, just as Bodhisattvas (菩薩 [pu sa]) abide in the samādhi of non-deceit. May all sentient beings (一切眾生 [yi qie zhong sheng]) gain great benefit, give rise to great compassion (大悲 [da bei]), and arouse the Bodhi-mind (菩提心 [pu ti xin]).' Good man! At that time, Bǎoxiàng Púsà (寶相菩薩 [bao xiang pu sa]) prostrated his head to the ground before Baozang Fó (寶藏佛 [bao cang fu]), and all sentient beings (一切眾生 [yi qie zhong sheng]) indeed attained such samādhi of non-deceit (無諂三昧 [wu chan san mei]), gained great benefit, gave rise to great compassion (大悲 [da bei]), and aroused the Bodhi-mind (菩提心 [pu ti xin]).

If my vows are fulfilled and I achieve benefit, may white dragon-elephants (龍象 [long xiang]) naturally emerge from my two hands.' Having spoken these words, by the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) divine power, two dragon-elephants (龍象 [long xiang]) immediately emerged from his hands, pure white in color and touching the ground at seven points.

This Buddha-world (佛世界 [fu shi jie]) shall be renamed Héhé Yīnyīng Guāngmíng (和合音光明 [he he yin guang ming]). You shall attain Anuttarā Samyak Saṃbodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]) therein, and your name shall be Bǎogài Zēngguāngmíng Rúlái (寶蓋增光明如來 [bao gai zeng guang ming ru lai]), Arhat (應 [ying]), Samyak-saṃbuddha (正遍知 [zheng bian zhi]), Vidyācaraṇa-saṃpanna (明行足 [ming xing zu]), Sugata (善逝 [shan shi]), Lokavid (世間解 [shi jian jie]), Anuttara (無上士 [wu shang shi]), Puruṣadamya-sārathi (調御丈夫 [diao yu zhang fu]), Śāstā Devamanuṣyāṇāṃ (天人師 [tian ren shi]), Buddha (佛 [fu]), Bhagavān (世尊 [shi zun]).' He immediately rose, clasped his palms together, prostrated before the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) feet, and sat down not far from the Buddha (佛 [fu]) to listen to the Dharma. All three hundred million disciples, except one thousand, jointly made a vow to attain Anuttarā Samyak Saṃbodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]) in this world. At that time, Baozang Rúlái (寶藏如來 [bao cang ru lai]) bestowed upon each of them a prediction of Anuttarā Samyak Saṃbodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]). He will be able to skillfully protect them, provide refuge, a dwelling, a lamp, and furthermore deliver them from the great ocean of saṃsāra (生死大海 [sheng si da hai]), teaching them to abide in right view and to dwell in Nirvāṇa (涅槃 [nie pan]), drinking the water of sweet dew (甘露水 [gan lu shui]). This Bodhisattva Móhēsà (菩薩摩訶薩 [pu sa mo he sa]) desires to manifest great compassion (大悲 [da bei]), and therefore vows to choose such a five defiled and evil age (五濁惡世 [wu zhuo e shi]).'

Like a mountain of pure gold.
The hair between his brows,

At that time, among the one thousand youths of Baohai Fànzhì (寶海梵志 [bao hai fan zhi]), all except one had been exhorted to arouse the Anuttarā Samyak Saṃbodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]) mind, like Jūliúsūn (拘留孫 [ju liu sun]), Jiānàjiāmóuní (迦那伽牟尼 [jia na jia mou ni]), Jiāshè (迦葉 [jia ye]), and Mílè (彌勒 [mi lei]). The fifth, named Shīzi Guāngmíng (師子光明 [shi zi guang ming]), was also like this. Among the thousand people, except for one, all the others vowed to attain Anuttarā Samyak Saṃbodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]) in the Xián Jié (賢劫 [xian jie]). The youngest among them was named Chílìjiéjí (持力捷疾 [chi li jie ji]). Baohai Fànzhì (寶海梵志 [bao hai fan zhi]) again taught him to arouse the Anuttarā Samyak Saṃbodhi (阿耨多羅三藐三菩提 [a nou duo luo san miao san pu ti]) mind, saying: 'Good man! "'Sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng]) encompassed by the aggregates, elements, and sense-fields,
Fearing aging, sickness, and death,
Falling into the ocean of craving,
Imprisoned in the terrifying prison of the three realms of existence,
Drinking the poison of defilements,
Harm each other.
For a long night, they fall into
The ocean of suffering,
Blind and without eyes,
Losing the right path,
Long abiding in saṃsāra (生死 [sheng si]),
Covered by the mechanism,
Sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng]) in the three realms of existence,
Burn with various sufferings.
Having abandoned right view,
They abide in wrong views,
Revolving in saṃsāra (生死 [sheng si]),
Among the five paths,
Without rest,
Like a chariot wheel.
There are sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng])
Who have lost the Dharma eye,
Blind and unable to see,
And without protector.
You should cultivate
Immeasurable wisdom,
To free them from ignorance and delusion,
And cause them to arouse Bodhi (菩提 [pu ti]),
You should be a good friend
To sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng]),
To burn away the bonds of craving,
And untie the bonds of defilement (煩惱縛 [fan nao fu]).
You should, for these,
Arouse the Bodhi-mind (菩提心 [pu ti xin]).
Those who have lost the Dharma eye,
Are covered by ignorance,
To free them from ignorance,
You should give them the supreme path.
The prison of saṃsāra (生死有獄 [sheng si you yu]),
Burns with great fire,
Give them the sweet dew (甘露 [gan lu]) of Dharma,
To make them fully satisfied.
You should now quickly go
To the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) place,
Prostrate at his feet,
And achieve great benefit.
You should, at the Buddha's (佛 [fu]) place,
Make excellent and supreme vows,
The vows are excellent and subtle,
Remember them well.
In the future, you shall
Tame gods and humans,
And also vow to bestow
Fearlessness upon sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng]),
Deliver and liberate all of them,
And also enable them to be complete
In faculties, powers, and enlightenment factors,
Rain down the great Dharma rain,
Bestow the water of wisdom,
And extinguish the fire of suffering
Of sentient beings (眾生 [zhong sheng]).'
