[0831a07] At that time, the World-Honored One 世尊 [shi zun] was seated on a dais within the Jetavana Monastery 給孤獨精舍 [gei gu du jing she] in the country of Shravasti 舍衛國 [she wei guo]. Many Bhiksus 苾芻 [bi chu], Devas 天 [tian], Nagas 龍 [long], the Eightfold Division 八部 [ba bu], humans 人 [ren], non-humans 非人 [fei ren], and others surrounded the World-Honored One 世尊 [shi zun], silently with clasped palms, listening to the Buddha's 佛 [fu] discourse.

[0831a10] At that time, the World-Honored One 世尊 [shi zun] addressed the Bhiksus 苾芻 [bi chu]: "I shall now praise the great Sravakas 聲聞 [sheng wen], who are able to cultivate pure practice in the Buddhadharma 佛法 [fu fa] and are all endowed with their own virtues in their respective fruits. Listen attentively, ponder it well, and I will declare it to you in order.
