[0674a11] Thus have I heard:
At one time, the [佛 [fu] (Buddha)] resided in the [舍衛國 [she wei guo] (Śrāvastī)] country, in the [祇樹給孤獨園 [qi shu gei gu du yuan] (Jetavana-Anāthapiṇḍada-vihāra)].
[0674a11] wén rú shì:

[0674a12] At that time, the [世尊 [shi zun] (World-Honored One)] addressed the [諸比丘 [zhu bi qiu] (bhikṣus)], saying, "I shall now speak of the aggregates of evil. You should carefully contemplate them."
[0674a12] ěr shí, shì zūn gào zhū bǐ qiū: “wǒ jīn dāng shuō bù shàn zhī jù, rǔ děng dāng shàn sī niàn zhī.”
[0674a12] er shi, shi zun gao zhu bi qiu: "wo jin dang shuo bu shan zhi ju, ru deng dang shan si nian zhi."

[0674a13] The [諸比丘 [zhu bi qiu] (bhikṣus)] replied, "Yes, [世尊 [shi zun] (World-Honored One)]!" At that time, the [諸比丘 [zhu bi qiu] (bhikṣus)] received the teaching from the [佛 [fu] (Buddha)].
[0674a13] zhū bǐ qiū duì yuē: “rú shì. shì zūn! ” ěr shí, zhū bǐ qiū cóng fú shòu jiào.

[0674a14] The [世尊 [shi zun] (World-Honored One)] said, "What are called the aggregates of evil? They are the five hindrances (五蓋 [wu gai]). What are these five? They are the hindrance of sensual desire (貪欲蓋 [tan yu gai]), the hindrance of ill-will (瞋恚蓋 [chen hui gai]), the hindrance of sloth and torpor (睡眠蓋 [shui mian gai]), the hindrance of restlessness and remorse (調戲蓋 [diao xi gai]), and the hindrance of doubt (疑蓋 [yi gai]). These are called the five hindrances. If you wish to know the aggregates of evil, these are the five hindrances. Why is this so? [比丘 [bi qiu] (bhikṣus)], you should know that if these five hindrances are present, then there are the realms of animals (畜生 [chu sheng]), hungry ghosts (餓鬼 [e gui]), and hell (地獄 [de yu]). All unwholesome dharmas arise from these. Therefore, [比丘 [bi qiu] (bhikṣus)], you should seek the means to eliminate the hindrance of sensual desire (貪欲蓋 [tan yu gai]), the hindrance of ill-will (瞋恚蓋 [chen hui gai]), the hindrance of sloth and torpor (睡眠蓋 [shui mian gai]), the hindrance of restlessness and remorse (調戲蓋 [diao xi gai]), and the hindrance of doubt (疑蓋 [yi gai]). Thus, [比丘 [bi qiu] (bhikṣus)], you should train yourselves in this way."
[0674a14] shì zūn gào yuē: “bǐ yún hé míng wèi bù shàn jù? suǒ wèi wǔ gài. yún hé wèi wǔ? tān yù gài,, chēn huì gài,, shuì mián gài,, diào xì gài,, yí gài, shì wèi míng wèi wǔ gài. yù zhī bù shàn jù zhě, cǐ míng wèi wǔ gài. suǒ yǐ rán zhě, bǐ qiū dāng zhī, ruò yǒu cǐ wǔ gài, biàn yǒu chù shēng,, è guǐ,, de yù zhī fēn, zhū bù shàn fǎ jiē yóu cǐ qǐ. shì gù, zhū bǐ qiū! dāng qiú fāng biàn, miè tān yù gài,, chēn huì gài,, shuì mián gài,, diào xì gài,, yí gài. rú shì, zhū bǐ qiū! dāng zuò shì xué.”
[0674a14] shi zun gao yue: "bi yun he ming wei bu shan ju? suo wei wu gai. yun he wei wu? tan yu gai,, chen hui gai,, shui mian gai,, diao xi gai,, yi gai, shi wei ming wei wu gai. yu zhi bu shan ju zhe, ci ming wei wu gai. suo yi ran zhe, bi qiu dang zhi, ruo you ci wu gai, bian you chu sheng,, e gui,, de yu zhi fen, zhu bu shan fa jie you ci qi. shi gu, zhu bi qiu! dang qiu fang bian, mie tan yu gai,, chen hui gai,, shui mian gai,, diao xi gai,, yi gai. ru shi, zhu bi qiu! dang zuo shi xue."

[0674a21] At that time, the [比丘 [bi qiu] (bhikṣus)], having heard what the [佛 [fu] (Buddha)] said, rejoiced and respectfully put it into practice.
