Chapter 262 - The story of Dharmakāma

bhūtapūrvaṃ bhikṣavaḥ anyatamasya karvaṭakasya nātidūre udyānaṃ mūlakandapuṣpaphalasalilasaṃpannaṃ nānāvihaganikūjitaṃ; tatra ṛṣiḥ prativasati phalamūlāmbubhakṣaḥ ajinavalkalavāsāḥ vidyāmantradhārī ca; tasmiṃśca karvaṭake gṛhapatiḥ prativasati; tena sadṛśātkulātkalatramānītaṃ; sa tayā sārdhaṃ krīḍati ramate paricārayati; tasya krīḍato ramamāṇasya paricārayataḥ kālāntareṇa patnī āpannasatvā saṃvṛttā; aṣṭānāṃ navānāṃ māsānāmatyayātprasūtā; dārako jātaḥ; tasya trīṇi saptakānyekaviṃśatidivasān vistareṇa jātasya jātimahaṃ kṛtvā nāmadheyaṃ vyavasthāpitaṃ; sa unnīto vardhito mahān saṃvṛttaḥ; sa caṃkramyamāṇaḥ (a 488 ) sthito śayito kuśalaṃ cittamatikuśalaṃ ca karma karoti; tasya janakāyena dharmakāma iti saṃjñā kṛtā; sa kiṃkuśalagaveṣitayā karvaṭakānniṣkramya kālānukālaṃ tasya ṛṣeḥ sakāśamupasaṃkrāmati; upasthānaṃ cāsya karoti; tapasvina upasaṃkrāmatīti tāpasas(i 175) tāpasa iti saṃvṛttā; tasyāpareṇa samayena viṣakṛtamutthitaṃ; so'nekairagadamantraprayogaiścikitsyate; na cāsau vyādhirupaśamaṃ gacchati; sa mātāpitṛbhyāṃ tasya ṛṣeḥ sakāśamupanītaḥ; maharṣe upasthāyakaste viṣakṛtena prāṇairviyujyate; cikitsāṃ kuruṣva iti; sa satyopayācanaṃ kartumārabdhaḥ
samaṃ te dāraka cittaṃ mitreṣvapi ripuṣvapi |
anena satyavākyena nirviṣo bhava dāraka || iti
sa satyopayācanakālasamanantarameva nirviṣīkṛtaḥ
kiṃ manyadhve bhikṣavo yo'sau dārakaḥ ahameva saḥ tena kālena tena samayena; yo'sau ṛṣiḥ eṣa eva sa daśabalakāśyapaḥ; tadāpyahamanena satyopayācanena svasthīkṛtaḥ; etarhyapyahamanena satyopayācanena svasthīkṛtaḥ
