Chapter 67 - Reasoning within, and enlightenment

tato bodhisatvaḥ saṃlakṣayati: ṣaṭtriṃśadbhūtakoṭiparivārasya <mārasya> kena mamāntike cittaṃ pradūṣitaṃ, kena neti kathametajjñāyate iti; tasyaitadabhavat: cetaḥparyāyajñānasākṣātkriyayābhijñayā iti; sa rātryā madhyame yāme cetaḥparyāyajñānasākṣātkriyāyāmabhijñāyāṃ cittamabhinirṇamayati; parasatvānāṃ parapudgalānāṃ vitarkitaṃ, vicāritaṃ manasā mānasaṃ yathābhūtaṃ prajānāti; sarāgaṃ cittaṃ sarāgaṃ cittamiti yathābhūtaṃ prajānāti; vigatarāgaṃ cittaṃ vigatarāgaṃ cittamiti yathābhūtaṃ prajānāti; sadveṣaṃ vigatadveṣaṃ, samohaṃ (a 386 ) vigatamohaṃ, saṃkṣiptaṃ vikṣiptaṃ, līnaṃ pragṛhītam, uddhatamanuddhatam, avyupaśāntaṃ vyupaśāntam, asamāhitaṃ samāhitam, abhāvitaṃ bhāvitam, avimuktaṃ cittam, avimuktaṃ cittamiti yathābhūtaṃ prajānāti; savimuktaṃ cittam <savimuktaṃ cittam> iti yathābhūtaṃ prajānāti; tasyaitadabhavat: eṣāṃ mārakiṃkarāṇāṃ ko me anyasyāṃ jātau mātṛsaṃbandhaṃ pitṛsaṃbandhaḥ; ko vadhakaḥ, pratyarthikaḥ, pratyamitra iti; kathametajjñāyata iti; tasyaitadabhavat: pūrvanivāsānusmṛtijñānasākṣātkriyāyāmabhijñayeti; sa rātryā madhyame yāme pūrvanivāsānusmṛtijñānasākṣātkriyāyāmabhijñāyāṃ cittamabhinirṇamayati; so'nekavidhaṃ pūrvanivāsaṃ samanusmarati; tadyathā ekāmapi jātiṃ, dve, tisraś, catasraḥ, pañca, ṣaṭ, sapta, aṣṭau, (118) nava daśa, viṃśatiṃ, triṃśataṃ, catvāriṃśataṃ, pañcāśataṃ, jātisahasramapi, jātiśatānyanekānyapi, jātishasrāṇyanekānyapi, jātiśatasahasrāṇi, saṃvartakalpamapi, vivartakalpamapi, saṃvartavivartakaplamapi, anekānapi saṃvartakalpān, anekānapi vivartakalpān, anekānapi saṃvartavivartakaplān samanusmarati; amī nāma te bhavantaḥ satvāḥ yatrāhamāsamevaṃnāmā, evaṃjātyaḥ, evaṃgotraḥ, evamāhāraḥ, evaṃ sukhaduḥkhaṃ pratisaṃvedī, evaṃdīrghāyuḥ, evaṃcirasthitikaḥ, evamāyuḥparyantaḥ; so'haṃ tasmātsthānāccyutaḥ amutropapannaḥ tasmādapi cyutaḥ amutropapannaḥ; tasmādapi cyuta ihopapanna iti; sākāraṃ soddeśamanekavidhaṃ pūrvanivāsaṃ samanusmarati; tasyaitadabhavat: eṣāṃ mārakiṃkarāṇāṃ ke apāyagāminaḥ, ke neti; kathametajjñāyate? tasyaitadabhavat: cyutyupapādajñānasākṣātkriyāyāmabhijñayeti; sa rātryā madhyame yāme cyutyupapādajñānasākṣātkriyāyāmabhijñāyāṃ cittamabhinirṇamayati; sa divyena cakṣuṣā viśuddhenātikrāntamānuṣyakeṇa satvān paśyati, cyavamānānapi upapadyamānānapi, suvarṇānapi, durvarṇānapi, hīnānapi, praṇītānapi, sugatimapi gacchato, durgatimapi gacchato; yathākarmopagān satvān yathābhūtān prajānāti; amī nāma te bhavantaḥ satvāḥ kāyaduścaritena samanvāgatā vāṅmanoduścaritena
samanvāgatā āryāṇāmapavādakā mithyādṛṣṭayaḥ; mithyādṛṣṭikarmadharmasamādānahetoḥ taddhetutatpratyayaṃ kāyasya bhedātparaṃ maraṇādapāyadurgativinipātaṃ narakeṣu prapadyante; amī punarbhavantaḥ satvāḥ kāyasucaritena samanvāgatā vāṅmanassucaritena samanvāgatāsāryāṇāmanapavādakāḥ samyagdṛṣṭayaḥ; samyagdṛṣṭikarmadharmasamādānahetostaddhetutatpratyayaṃ kāyasya bhedātparaṃ maraṇātsugatau svargaloke deveṣūpapadyante; tasyaitadabhavat: amī bhavantaḥ satvāḥ kāmāśraveṇa bhavāśraveṇāvidyāśravena (a 386 ) ca saṃsāre saṃsaranti; tatkāmāśravo bhavāśravo'vidyāśravaśca; yathā prahīyante tatkathaṃ jñāyata iti; tasyaitadabhavat: āśravakṣayajñānasākṣātkriyāyāmabhijñayetiÝāsravakṣayajñānasākṣātkriyāyāmÝ; ca yuktaḥ sātatye naipakye saṃbodhipakṣeṣu dharmeṣu bhāvanāyogamanuyukto viharannāsravakṣayajñānasākṣātkriyāyāmabhijñāyāṃ cittamabhinirṇamayati; sa idaṃ duḥkhamāryasatyamiti yathābhūtaṃ prajānāti; ayaṃ duḥkhasamudayaḥ, ayaṃ duḥkhanirodhaḥ, ayaṃ duḥkhanirodhagāminī pratipadāryasatyamiti yathābhutaṃ prajānāti; tasyaivaṃ jānata evaṃ (119) paśyataḥ kāmāśravāccittaṃ vimucyate; bhavāśravādcittaṃ vimucyate; <avidyāśravāccittaṃ vimucyate>; vimuktasya vimuktameva jñānadarśanaṃ bhavati, kṣīnā me jātir, uṣitaṃ brahmacaryaṃ, kṛtaṃ karaṇīyaṃ, nāparamasmādbhavaṃ prajānāmīti; iti tatrābhisaṃbuddhabodhirbhagavān kṛtakṛtyaḥ, kṛtakaraṇīyaḥ, tejodhātuṃ samāpannaḥ
