This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 112.69

षष्टिम् अश्वसहस्राणि सैन्धवा शीघ्रवाहिनो ।
सर्वालंकारभूषितानि शूरारूढा च सर्वशो ।

माहं काको वा सुर्मेधो कामानां वशम् अन्वगा ॥ ६९ ॥

ṣaṣṭim aśvasahasrāṇi saindhavā śīghravāhino |
sarvālaṃkārabhūṣitāni śūrārūḍhā ca sarvaśo |

Here I have sixty thousand steeds of Sindh, fleet of foot, gaily bedecked, all ridden by heroes. . . lest like the witless crow I become the slave of my desires. (69)
