This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 110.7

यो जयेत सहस्राणां मासे मासे शतं शतं ।
सो व संपन्नशीलानां कलां नार्घति षोडशीं ॥ ७ ॥

yo jayeta sahasrāṇāṃ māse māse śataṃ śataṃ |
so va saṃpannaśīlānāṃ kalāṃ nārghati ṣoḍaśīṃ || 7 ||

He who can beat hundreds of thousands month after month, is not worth a fraction of those who have mastered the rules of morality. (7)
