This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 108.21

न शीलव्रतमात्रेण बाहुश्रुत्येन वा पुनः ।
अथ वा समाधिलाभेन प्रान्तशय्यासनेन च ॥ २१ ॥

na śīlavratamātreṇa bāhuśrutyena vā punaḥ |
atha vā samādhilābhena prāntaśayyāsanena ca || 21 ||

Not even by observing good works alone, nor by much learning, nor by attainment of concentration on solitary couch or bed, (21)
