by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 102.13

yathā tava praṇidhī abhūt purastād yatha samudāgato asi lokanātha |
praṇidhī āgamo ca te samṛddho daśaśatarasmisagotra taṃ priyaṃ me || 13 ||

Glad am I, O kinsman of the sun, that the vow thou madest of yore has now come to pass, O Saviour of the world. Thy vow and its fulfilment have prospered. (13)
