Mahavastu [sanskrit verses and english]

by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 100.20

yat kiṃci praśnaṃ manasābhikāṃkṣatha kṛtāvakāśāni vadetha yūyaṃ |
ahaṃ vo praśnāni viyākariṣyaṃ dṛṣṭaṃ hi me tatvam idaṃ paraṃ ca || 20 ||

Now I give you leave to ask whatever question it is in your heart to ask. So do you speak, and I will answer your questions. For I have true knowledge of this world and the next. (20)
