This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 96.28

तस्मात् ते सदृशो नास्ति मैत्र्याय पुरुषोत्तम ।
करुणाय च कारुणिको अकुतोभय नरर्षभ ॥ २८ ॥

tasmāt te sadṛśo nāsti maitryāya puruṣottama |
karuṇāya ca kāruṇiko akutobhaya nararṣabha || 28 ||

Hence is there none like thee in love, O Man supreme, so merciful with compassion, O fearless, valiant Man. (28)
