This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 91.14

यस्यार्थाय वयं घट्टाम रात्रिंदिवम् अतंद्रिताः ।
कथं शब्दान् अधिगच्छेम ते नो प्य् अधिगता इह ॥ १४ ॥

yasyārthāya vayaṃ ghaṭṭāma rātriṃdivam ataṃdritāḥ |
kathaṃ śabdān adhigacchema te no py adhigatā iha || 14 ||

“Why,” said they, “should we toil night and day without ceasing when we have here and now got the sounds we sought? (14)
