by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 88.2

ये च देशेन्ति सद्धर्मं शृणोन्ति ये च देशितं ।
सर्वे ते अधिगच्छन्ति निर्वाणपदम् अच्युतं ॥ २ ॥

ye ca deśenti saddharmaṃ śṛṇonti ye ca deśitaṃ |
sarve te adhigacchanti nirvāṇapadam acyutaṃ || 2 ||

Those who teach the true dharma and those who listen to the teaching of it, all attain the immovable state of nirvana. (2)
