This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 87.72

आदित्यगोत्रो तेजस्वी इक्ष्वाकुकुलसंभवो ।
जातीतः क्षत्रियो अग्रो भगवां अग्रपुद्गलो ॥ ७२ ॥

ādityagotro tejasvī ikṣvākukulasaṃbhavo |
jātītaḥ kṣatriyo agro bhagavāṃ agrapudgalo || 72 ||

“The splendid kinsman of the sun, the Supreme, the Exalted One, the Foremost of Men, was by birth a noble, sprung from Ikshvaku’s line. (72)
