This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 78.8

क्वचिद् भ्रमरमधुकरिभिश् चूर्णितकुसुमेहि पादपसमीपं ।
कृतसंस्तरा विचित्रा हरिणशकुनलीलिता स्थान्ति ॥ ८ ॥

kvacid bhramaramadhukaribhiś cūrṇitakusumehi pādapasamīpaṃ |
kṛtasaṃstarā vicitrā hariṇaśakunalīlitā sthānti || 8 ||

Here around a tree where bees made honey from pollen-laden flowers there flocked in play vari-coloured gazelles and birds. (8)
