This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 76.157

न चीवरे शयने भोजने वा अनुध्यापिता भोन्ति जिना नरेन्द्र ।
लब्ध्वा मनापं अथवापि अप्रियं उपेक्षका भोन्ति जिना प्रजानका ॥ १५७ ॥

na cīvare śayane bhojane vā anudhyāpitā bhonti jinā narendra |
labdhvā manāpaṃ athavāpi apriyaṃ upekṣakā bhonti jinā prajānakā || 157 ||

“Conquerors, O king, are not concerned about robe or bed or food. Discerning Conquerors care not whether what they get is agreeable or disagreeable.” (157)
