by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 76.113

तस्माद् दानीं उदायि राजं शुद्धोदनं प्रसादेहि ।
भेष्यति महासमुदयो प्रसन्ने तस्मिं महीपाले ॥ ११३ ॥

tasmād dānīṃ udāyi rājaṃ śuddhodanaṃ prasādehi |
bheṣyati mahāsamudayo prasanne tasmiṃ mahīpāle || 113 ||

Therefore do you now placate King Shuddhodana. Great profit will there be when the lord of earth is placated. (113)
