This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 76.51

इतो हम् अर्धमासेन करित्वान उपोषधं ।
चारिकां प्रक्रमिष्यामि अनुकंपाय प्राणिनां ॥ ५१ ॥

ito ham ardhamāsena karitvāna upoṣadhaṃ |
cārikāṃ prakramiṣyāmi anukaṃpāya prāṇināṃ || 51 ||

[The Buddha replied] “After fasting half a month I shall set out on my journey to bestow compassion on men.” (51)
