This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 76.39

तूर्यकोटीसहस्राणि संप्रवाद्येन्सु अम्बरे ।
चारिकां चरमाणस्य शिखिस्य लोकनायके ॥ ३९ ॥

tūryakoṭīsahasrāṇi saṃpravādyensu ambare |
cārikāṃ caramāṇasya śikhisya lokanāyake || 39 ||

Thousands of kotis of musical instruments were played in the sky when Shikhin, the Leader of the world, went on his journey. (39)
