This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 76.1

आगतो श्रमणो गौतमो मगधानां गिरिव्रजं ।
सर्वे संजये नेत्वान कं सु नाम नयिष्यति ॥ १ ॥

āgato śramaṇo gautamo magadhānāṃ girivrajaṃ |
sarve saṃjaye netvāna kaṃ su nāma nayiṣyati || 1 ||

Gotama the recluse has come to Girivraja of the Magadhans, leading all the followers of Sanjayin with him. Whom will he lead now, I wonder? (1)
