This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 75.81

उन्नामितौत्तमांगो भाषति वाचां इमां तुरगराजा ।
को वो गन्सति पारं समुद्रस्य लवणतोयस्य ॥ ८१ ॥

unnāmitauttamāṃgo bhāṣati vācāṃ imāṃ turagarājā |
ko vo gansati pāraṃ samudrasya lavaṇatoyasya || 81 ||

“Lifting up his head the king of horses speaks these words, ‘Who of you would go to the shore beyond the salt flood of ocean? (81)
