by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 75.36

एतानि च अन्यानि पुष्पाणि फुल्लिता पादपवरेषु ।
सर्वोतुककालिकानि न कंचि कालं न दृश्यन्ति ॥ ३६ ॥

etāni ca anyāni puṣpāṇi phullitā pādapavareṣu |
sarvotukakālikāni na kaṃci kālaṃ na dṛśyanti || 36 ||

Some bent under the weight of their crowns of flowers, others bore ripe fruit, and others were languishing. And others were never seen otherwise than thickly branched. (36)
