This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 75.8

तेषां च परार्थाये उपकरणानि अभून्सुः पात्रस्मिं ।
ते तानि ग्रहेत्वान लवणजलधरं समवगाढा ॥ ८ ॥

teṣāṃ ca parārthāye upakaraṇāni abhūnsuḥ pātrasmiṃ |
te tāni grahetvāna lavaṇajaladharaṃ samavagāḍhā || 8 ||

They seized the gear, which they had on board for other uses, and plunged into the stream of the salt sea. (8)
