This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 68.2

इमे स्थूला च लम्बा च सुनिबद्धा शिथिला चिमे ।
इमा न पि पतिष्यन्ति ततो ऽभक्षो भविष्यसि ॥ २ ॥

ime sthūlā ca lambā ca sunibaddhā śithilā cime |
imā na pi patiṣyanti tato 'bhakṣo bhaviṣyasi || 2 ||

“Those organs, though they droop, are strong, and though inert are well-set. They will not fall off, so without a prey will you remain. (2)
