Mahavastu [sanskrit verses and english]

by Émile Senart | 1882 | 56,574 words

This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 67.160

एवं पुण्यवतो अर्था सर्वे भोन्ति प्रदक्षिणाः ।
यथा नाम कुशो भार्याय ज्ञातीहि च समागतो ॥ १६० ॥

evaṃ puṇyavato arthā sarve bhonti pradakṣiṇāḥ |
yathā nāma kuśo bhāryāya jñātīhi ca samāgato || 160 ||

Thus do the affairs of the virtuous man turn out well, as in the case of King Kusha who was reunited with his wife and his kinsfolk. (160)
