This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 67.59

इदं राजकुलं स्फीतम् अनन्तरतनाकरं ।
अथ दिवा वा रात्रौ वा प्रदीपं न लभामहे ॥ ५९ ॥

idaṃ rājakulaṃ sphītam anantaratanākaraṃ |
atha divā vā rātrau vā pradīpaṃ na labhāmahe || 59 ||

“This royal palace is rich, an unfailing mine of precious stones. And yet we get no light either by night or day. (59)
