This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 65.99

दृष्टा मे पंचशता जीवजीवका मयूरहंसा करविंककोकिला ।
संप्रस्थितेनैकरवा अभूषि नैरंजना याव च बोधिमण्डं ॥ ९९ ॥

dṛṣṭā me paṃcaśatā jīvajīvakā mayūrahaṃsā karaviṃkakokilā |
saṃprasthitenaikaravā abhūṣi nairaṃjanā yāva ca bodhimaṇḍaṃ || 99 ||

“I saw five hundred partridges, peacocks, flamingoes, cuckoos and sparrows; varied were their songs as he set out towards the Nairanjana and the bodhi-throne. (99)
