This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 64.357

शीलवां सुखसंवासो भिक्षु भोतु अहिंसको ।
न हि चीवरलाभेन व्रजते भिक्षु स्वर्गतिं ॥ ३५७ ॥

śīlavāṃ sukhasaṃvāso bhikṣu bhotu ahiṃsako |
na hi cīvaralābhena vrajate bhikṣu svargatiṃ || 357 ||

Let the monk be moral, dwelling at ease, and harming none. It is not by acquiring the robe that the monk goes to the heavenly bourne. (357)
