This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 64.148

उच्चारो शुष्को यथ दह्यमानो जुगुप्सनीयो परमदुर्गन्धो ।
न राजपुत्रो तहिं भवति उदग्रो तथैव कामा गर्हित पण्डितेहि ॥ १४८ ॥

uccāro śuṣko yatha dahyamāno jugupsanīyo paramadurgandho |
na rājaputro tahiṃ bhavati udagro tathaiva kāmā garhita paṇḍitehi || 148 ||

“As when dry excrement burns with a repulsive and most foul smell a king’s son is not happy there, so sensual pleasures are vile to the wise. (148)
