This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 64.135

तवाधिपत्ये निवसं कुमार शुश्रूषन्तो मृदु भाषमाणं ।
श्रुत्वान ते वाक्य सुखी भविष्यं मृषा च भाषे न व एवरूपः ॥ १३५ ॥

tavādhipatye nivasaṃ kumāra śuśrūṣanto mṛdu bhāṣamāṇaṃ |
śrutvāna te vākya sukhī bhaviṣyaṃ mṛṣā ca bhāṣe na va evarūpaḥ || 135 ||

“O prince, dwelling under thy rule, I shall be eager to listen to thy gentle speech, and when I have hearkened to thy words I shall be happy. In that state I shall not speak untruth. (135)
