This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 64.73

महानलं चाभू मुखं चन्द्रो वा पूर्णमासिये ।
रतनाग्नीव च दिशा सर्वा ताय प्रभासिषु ॥ ७३ ॥

mahānalaṃ cābhū mukhaṃ candro vā pūrṇamāsiye |
ratanāgnīva ca diśā sarvā tāya prabhāsiṣu || 73 ||

“Their faces were great (orbs of) fire, like the moon when it is full, or like fiery gems; all regions were lit up by them. (73)
