This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 53.65

न इमां दिशां मनुष्यो अमनुष्यो वापि क्वचिद् आगम्य ।
न पि दृष्ट्वा ऋषिकुमारं मृगपक्षिगणा भयं एन्ति ॥ ६५ ॥

na imāṃ diśāṃ manuṣyo amanuṣyo vāpi kvacid āgamya |
na pi dṛṣṭvā ṛṣikumāraṃ mṛgapakṣigaṇā bhayaṃ enti || 65 ||

For no human or demon ever came anywhere to these regions. And the crowds of beasts and birds were never struck with fear when they saw the young seer. (65)
