This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

नापि च स्वयंकृतानां कर्माणां फलं पलायितुं शक्या ।
चक्रपरिवर्तकस्य हि उपरिपतति सुखं च दुःखं च ॥ ४९ ॥

nāpi ca svayaṃkṛtānāṃ karmāṇāṃ phalaṃ palāyituṃ śakyā |
cakraparivartakasya hi uparipatati sukhaṃ ca duḥkhaṃ ca || 49 ||
