This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 53.31

नैषो क्षुरप्रो संधितो त्वम् आहतो सि मय अजानन्तेन ।
यम् अजानन्तेन क्षतं एतं मया क्षम्यताम् एव ॥ ३१ ॥

naiṣo kṣurapro saṃdhito tvam āhato si maya ajānantena |
yam ajānantena kṣataṃ etaṃ mayā kṣamyatām eva || 31 ||

“This arrow was not fixed and aimed at you. I was quite unaware that you were struck. So grant me pardon for thus unwittingly doing you harm. (31)
