This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 53.24

संप्रति च ऋषिकुमारो कलशं आदाय प्रस्थितो उदकं ।
अवगाहि ताव गिरिनदिं त्रस्ता च मृगा च पक्षी च ॥ २४ ॥

saṃprati ca ṛṣikumāro kalaśaṃ ādāya prasthito udakaṃ |
avagāhi tāva girinadiṃ trastā ca mṛgā ca pakṣī ca || 24 ||

fust then the young seer, having come there with his pitcher to fetch water, had gone down to the stream which flowed from the hills, while the beasts and birds were affrighted. (24)
